There's a reason I call them the Black KKK. The pain, the fear and the destruction are all the same.
Someone who loved Sean Taylor is crying right now. The life they knew has been destroyed, an 18-month-old baby lost her father, and, if you're a black man living in America, you've been reminded once again that your life is in constant jeopardy of violent death. The Black KKK claimed another victim, a high-profile professional football player with a checkered past this time.
No, we don't know for certain the circumstances surrounding Taylor's death. I could very well be proven wrong for engaging in this sort of aggressive speculation. But it's no different than if you saw a fat man fall to the ground clutching his chest. You'd assume a heart attack, and you'd know, no matter the cause, the man needed to lose weight.
Well, when shots are fired and a black man hits the pavement, there's every statistical reason to believe another black man pulled the trigger. That's not some negative, unfair stereotype. It's a reality we've been living with, tolerating and rationalizing for far too long.
When the traditional, white KKK lynched, terrorized and intimidated black folks at a slower rate than its modern-day dark-skinned replacement, at least we had the good sense to be outraged and in no mood to contemplate rationalizations or be fooled by distractions.

Didn’t he used to have a television show?
I think he missed something.
I believe the "shot in the groin" part was intended as a message rather than a death blow...
What I heard on the news was that the two of them were in bed, he heard noises and grabbed a machete from underneath the bed and headed to the bedroom door to lock it, but as he got there it was broken down and he was shot. Seriously, most girls would hide under the covers in such a scenario.
I like this guy, Jason Whitlock.
Glad to enjoyed it. I never heard of him before but I will watch for more of him articles.
You’ll love this one, then: “Rapper Birdman free on bond after drug arrest”

In 2005 Taylor got in trouble w/ the law for brandishing a firearm at some people who were trying to steal a couple ATVs from him.
According to FReeper therut, the NFL bosses ban firearms from their players, threatening them with fines and firing and such if they owned them.
Perhaps as Sean tried to stay out of trouble, he complied with the banning of firearms. Post #159 on the main Sean Taylor thread from a couple days ago stated:
‘Sharpstein said Taylor was sleeping when he heard a noise in the living room. The intruders were at his bedroom and Taylor reached for a machete or other form of knife he keeps nearby in case of emergency, and two shots were fired, with one striking his leg.’

That’s why “most girls” need to take self defense and home defense classes that include firearms training. Part of that training is maintaining calm in the crisis and to be locked, cocked, and ready to rock when someone comes uninvited into your home.
a certain segment of black americans has been indoctrinated into a form of urban terrorism.
but if you stand up to a terrorist, he melts like wax.
collectively, people are standing up, and it's about freaking time.
If vick had given Taylor a couple of his dogs they’d both be better off right now.
No security system like a good dog.
“No, we don’t know for certain the circumstances surrounding Taylor’s death.”
But by all means, let’s sell some papers and bandwidth and make some money while we can!
This author is a predator. Pure and simple.
You've got that right! You should see the race baiters go after him in the KC media.

The NFL doesn’t want players running around with guns for obvious reasons. But inside your household, there is nothing the NBA can do. Plus, we already knew he owned at least one gun.
Either way, the guy just refused to move out of the hood and give up the gangster stuff and it ended up costing him his life. At what point do we just have to say, this is self-inflicted. If he really had decided to ‘turn the corner’ in the last few months as many are reporting, its a shame and its too bad he didn’t decided to get his girl and his kid into someplace decent during the season.
Great column - thanks. I don’t read the sports page much so had never heard of him before. I’ll have to start following his work.

I remember that. What a crushing, horrible time.
Joe Gibbs said in the past year and a half he doesn’t know of a single chapel service that Sean Taylor had missed. I hope and pray this means he made peace with God as in:
Sean had his eyes opened, that he turned from darkness to light and turned from the enemy’s power to God’s power, and he had received forgiveness of sins and received an inheritance among those who are sanctified by faith in the Lord — see Acts 26.18.
May others learn from this tragedy and take necessary steps to make a clean break.
What I heard was that this was an argument over some expensively dressed-out hummers, that had happened a week or so prior to him being shot in his bedroom.
I.E. You owe us money, m.f., and were gonna get it, or kill you.
Good article. Lyrics to the song that was at one point #1 on the charts in the past couple months. Just as a warning for Christians, the lyrics are vulgar.
