Why has Mike Huckabee turned to something akin to the plague by some on FR?

It's amazing, Mike Huckabee is one of the few politicians who would give the time of day to FR,
Gov. Huckabee's Thank you Letter to FReeper
and yet by some on FR they in mindless hyperbolic posts basically compare him to the plague.
JMO, some FReepers prove the axioms of "fair weather friends" and "no good deed goes unpunished" and also "watch your back", very true.

I wouldn’t call Huckabee the plague, but I certainly won’t vote for him in the primary. He’s too ‘nanny statist’ for my taste.

Heehee, I just can’t get my mind around “President Huckabee”.
Nope, sorry, can’t do it.
Duncan is my choice but if he doesn’t make it I hope whoever is our nominee will put him to good use.

Oh yes, Jerome Corsi, the person who sees a conspiracy behind every door. You just haven't ever gotten over his co-writing Swiftboats, and blowing your boy John Kerry out of the water.
Too bad for you.

Dr. Corsi is the Paul Revere of our times. To belittle or ignore him is not only stupid, but totally self destructive.

Well why didn't you show him out the door at the FR gatherings.Said FR gathering was seven years ago. Many of his misdeeds occured after that point.

I have a theory on this. Most people on this board made their choice fairly early and have had to defend that choice as the best one to stop Giuliani. Such strident defense tends to solidify one's position. Now Huckabee comes along and is a real threat to all the candidates, particularly Thompson and Romney, so he gets blasted. Also, I think that the supporters of the other second tier candidates are jeolous that Huckabee broke out of that pack and is now running with the "front-runners."
This board went nasty quite awhile ago and people haven't turned off the animosity.

Lots of liberals/rinos have been friends to me, does that mean I have to support them for president?
Duncan Hunter showed up for an interview and answered direct questions. Why don’t you get Huckabee to do that. We’ll be nice.

I'd vote for Paris H.
Compared to that Lohan babe, Paris looks downright classy.

I have been afraid (well, not really...) to mention who I will be voting for in the NH primaries next month.
I see everyone who supports anyone is getting flamed.
I’m guilty of flaming Julie Annie myself...

I know the history of Huckabees friendly relations with FR and respect his out going regard. But we have to ask ourselves, is fair weather freindship being applied to us? So basically it is a race issue to you, Huckabee's reaching out to hispanics, nullifies his pro-life and pro-2nd amendment stands, which BTW, many hispanics agree with.

Let's see... he wants to mandate "preventive health care", keep the NEA in place, apparently hasn't taken an economics course, and thinks Big Government can "fix" things it has no right or duty to meddle into in the first place. He's also a complete liar about his stance on illegal immigration.
Pandering to the Right by falsifying your record ain't gonna get you all that far.

Huckster as prez would destroy the GOP... Would not vote for him (or McCain for that matter) in either the primaries or the general election...even if it meant the Hildabeast became prez.
FDT is my first choice. DH is second.
To: bert
No, it’s because he’s too much of a nanny-statist for me and he did raise taxes in AR. It’s a true test for me. It’s just that simple. Enough of both of these already.
