Weeks is a short time on FR. We have had running gags that have gone on for years.

Anything that goes on for less then six months is a flash in the pan.

I agree it didn’t have the longevity of moose, cheese, or aybabtu. There had already been “5th column” references before that thread, and you will see that implied in some of the posts on that thread.

Fifth column references have been around since 1936.

However "Five" on FR did grow out of that thread.

Drove me nuts because I was on dial-up at the time and those graphic heavy threads would take forever to load. And then they would be mostly red "x"'s. Was glad to see it die out.

So the 5th column references on the thread are coincidental?

I have been a member of Freerepublic since 2000. Only until this Ron Paul disease started, have I received for the first time, unsolicited email from another Freeper/RonPaultard.

You really shouldn't give out your e-mail address via FR. That's practically begging for spam.

“Man, you guys are desperate. I’ll leave you alone to play in your filth.”

I’m not desperate enough to start a massive spam campaign. But someone apparently is.

He strikes me as more of a master baiter.

Do you think that post number 5 and the fact that five graphics only appear after post five are coincidental?

Not to mention post 34 where "5" was explained.

Fifth column by the way was brought up KingKongCobra at post number 35.

I am just going on the written evidence.

Please provide evidence that Paul's official campaign did this.

I think lormand was referring to his FRmail, but I've had my EMail address on my FR page for years and it's never been an issue other than an occasional nutball. But in the last 3 months that I've posted about Paul, the nutballs mailing me on and off FR has expanded.

Personally, I don't think an opinion from a freeper is worth much if they won't post it, profanity and threats can be worked around, and while I've never posted an EMail, there's no privacy issue there.

“Please provide evidence that Paul’s official campaign did this.”

I said plainly that I have no way of knowing if Paul’s campaign is behind it. But surely he must be aware of it.

Please “provide evidence” that he has told the spammers to stop spamming in his name.

If this spam campaign is successful, you can kiss your inbox goodbye for a year prior to every presidential campaign.

It's only a matter of time until Google comes around to your page and your address will be spambot central. You should really disguise it such as yourname ([at]) intenetprovider ([dot]) com.

All you n00bs should just sign up for GMail. You'll never even know you're getting spammed. No exaggeration, I get maybe one spam mail per month that makes it into my inbox.

That’s a great one. On an earlier thread I related a college age daughter’s experience who, on expressing no interest in a college age paulies suggestion that she needs to google Ron Paul, was verbally attacked for the keychain she’s worn around her neck for years. Though I’ve advised USMC red, she’s worn Army black with yellow lettering out of loyalty to friends. Nothing physical as your cartoon suggests, but I’m told the tongue lashing the Paulie received was severe. They don’t all like the troops, you know.

The 5th column references started at post 9. If it didn’t hold that meaning immediatly, it certainly assumed it in subsequent threads. It’s either a tacit accusation of being a traitor, or mindless repititon of the same argument. “Getting 5’ed” doesn’t seem to mean the person is agreeing with you.

It was another five image. Fifth column was not brought up before post 35.

A graphic of 5 columns, with the last one prominently broken, is "just another five image", unrelated to any other "5th column" reference. That's just a little too cute.

I already have a gmail account, but I can’t use it for work.

What bothers me about the “FMNN eAlerts” spam for Ron Paul is not so much the nuisance, which is minor. What really bothers me is that it comes every day and is disguised as a news source. It isn’t even “honest” spam!

If it “works,” it sets a very bad precedent for political spamming.
