Chavez reiterates that 'everything indicates they're trying to kill me'
The president of Venezuela, Hugo Chavez, reiterated today that, again, his most radical opponents have reactivated their assasination plans against him and 'everything indicates that they will be trying to kill me because of what will happen on Sunday'.
Next Sunday, Venezuelans will vote on a constitutional reform with which Chavez intends to install a 'socialism of the 21st century', which his opponents means the installation of a personal dictatorship.

In the [campaign] event, he repeated that recently "a strange light traveled through my body, around here, where my heart is, and then around here", he said while pointing to his head.
"Most likely it was a sniper hiding 100 or 200 meters away in a Caracas building, who aimed a weapon equiped with telescopic sight guided by rays, of which he was alerted to by a TV viewer who immediately alerted the authorities".
His Cuban colleague, Fidel Castro, to whom he said he showed the video when he visited Havana, "told me it was a sniper who didn't fire because he could have gotten cold feet at the precise moment".

Chavez concluded his story by singing a Mexican ranchera song, which chorus goes like this: "I fell from a cloud at 20 meters high, and that was my great adventure"

More fun (in Spanish) at source.
Thanks for posting. GRRRRREAT FReeper comments/perspective BUMP!
First, 100 or 200 meters away is not a sniper shot, that's a turkey shoot. A real sniper would be a heck of a lot further away. Helps with the post-shot escape and evasion planning.
Second, a real sniper wouldn't use a laser sight - for the very reason that it can alert the target that someone is sighting in on them. All you need is a very good scope. A laser is for point-and-shoot quickies - like in the same room or from across the street.
This guy is making it up as a ploy for sympathy.
That just never fails to impress the heck out of me. I'm a fair shot at best and have trouble hitting what I want much beyond 300 yds...sigh.
That sounds eerily like something Amin-a-nut-job said a while back. What is it with these loons.
Every morning, take a deep breath
If you can, we don't want you dead.
Yet.
Speaking of Spanish speaking crises - is St Jaques still posting?
He is hurting from the criticism of his stupid antics in the last few weeks. He needs sympathy, so he’s playing the victim. Tried and true tactic of the left.
And there’s an election and he’s afraid of losing - he might have to get a real job and work for a living.
Too bad they missed ;-)
And farther than 2 miles. It requires a spotter and a sharpshooter. The spotter runs the rangefinder, prevailing wind indicator and the laptop. The shooter relies on exactly what the spotter says how to aim. It could be 10 feet off target at an angle at that distance.
" I'm a fair shot at best and have trouble hitting what I want much beyond 300 yds...sigh."
I got a ribbon for the M-16 at 200. And neither of us can get or afford the equipment or SW if THAT was availiable. And that scope is different and boresighted to mate the .50 cal. Maybe some Special Forces guy can check in and improve on what I saw 5 years ago.
Bear hunting could be turned into a harvest.
“You know it wasnt an American sniper or hed be dead.”
Tee-Hee. :)
He hasn’t pinged me in a long time.
