Local NAACP had objected to staging of 'Ten Little

Cancellation of the Lakota East High School play "Ten Little Indians" by school administrators has created a stir in the community.

The leader of the local NAACP said administrators, who canceled the play citing its violent content and racial title, made the right decision. But one Lakota board member said she disagrees with the decision.

I recently borrowed a Book-on-CD from my local library. It was a reading of "Thank You, Jeeves" by PG Wodehouse. Very crisp British comedy from 1933 or so. One of the plot points involves a group of N-word musicians down the road who play jazz.

Didn't bother me at all. But I was surprised that some library patron had not already demanded the item be removed from the collection.

Local NAACP President Gary Hines said the original title of the book can't be ignored, nor can the original book-cover drawing of a black man in a noose.

snip

Hines alleges the play is just a symptom of a larger problem at Lakota. He wants an assessment of the district and a diversity plan created in partnership with the NAACP.

Pretty sad when the race-baiters have to step in at a School named "Lakota" and stop them from putting on a play of The Ten Little Indians because they did not feel the original book title and cover were racially sensitive enough for black people!

The lunatics are making a strong bid for asylum management.

We actually did a show called “Purlie” in my high school, the story of which centers around slavery and sharecroppers. There was maybe one black person in the cast, the rest were white. No one else auditioned for it. What would the NAACP have us do in that case? Import black kids from other schools to take the parts?

LOL - you were the first topick up on the name of the high school!

This whole thing is riculously comical, but is big news in my area.

In the original play the figurines were Indian boys from India. The play’s title was changed to “Ten Little Indians” but is now produced under the title “And Then There Were None”.

Citing “violence” as a reason for canceling the show is absolute nonsense. None of the deaths of the guests could be considered violent when compared to what goes on in modern theater.

How about a play about feigned moral outrage by groups such as the NAACP?

C’mon how violent can it be? They all roll over and one falls out and the little one says; “Roll Over, Roll Over”.

The amusing part is that apparently, the NAACP "Diversity Gestapo" didn't pick up on the current title of the play...

Kinda exposes the BS, doesn't it?

nope. you have to make it “community theatre” so the director’s son (who graduated 2 years earlier), a handful of dropouts, and a couple of “i can’t be bothered to show up for class, do the work, or even attempt to pass the class but i can show up for rehearsal and work my butt off” kids can all be in it.

The original title of Christie’s novel was “Ten Little N***ers”.

I’ll bet the kids could have staged any outrageous play they wanted to, if it met the standards of the PC police.

Power is what is really going on, using the play issue as an excuse. The NAACP want to control the school and engage in liberal PC thought control. Simple as that.

Uh, if the play is staged on tribal land, the Nagging Activators have no right to object.

The name of the school happens to be Lakota East - it is not on tribal land.

And, this is yet another reason why many parents sacrifice to send their children to private schools or home school instead. There is little or no censorship of classics like Huck Finn, Merchant of Venice., etc., in these enviroments.
