When I was in school back in the 70s, the threat was global cooling. What goes around comes around, there is no reason why the same folks concerned about global warming in 07 can’t flipflop again.

Interesting, but I did not see the temp readings (did I miss it somewhere?). Simply saying this year is cooler than 1998 (which was a very hot year) doesn’t mean its getting cooler year by year from 1998-2007 which is what this seems to imply (at least to me)

What I’m seeing here in Iowa is not global warming or cooling, but moderated extremes. Winters are warmer, but the summers are cooler. We aren’t having days on end of 100+ in the summer and below zero in the winter like we used to.

When I was an undergrad at the University of Wisconsin in the late 60s, we had a professor who told us about how they used to collect climate data for years from one particular building on Bascom Hill, the original site of the UW. They determined over the span of 40-60 years how the climate numbers changed. Average wind speeds decreased, temperature changed, etc. He asked us why. After we struggled with a variety of theories, he said, “The Elm Trees around the building grew!”

Last night in Ely Nevada it was colder than a well diggers arse. Froze my Thanksgiving celery and caused my Budweiser’s to pop. Damn global warming is supposed to help me in these difficult times.
