WASHINGTON U.S. Sen. Trent Lotts decision to resign from office may open the doors for U.S. Sen. Lamar Alexander to win an influential leadership position in the Senate.
Aides to Alexander said today that the Maryville Republican is considering running for the minority whip position currently held by Lott. The minority whip is the Senates No. 2 Republican.

LOL RB! Dude should make that a part of his platform

My thoughts exactly!
I'd like to see John Cornyn, he's been fighting hard against comprehensive immigration reform and securing our borders first.
Great, replace one rino with another. As a Tennessean, I can say I hope someone runs against him next year. He was really pro illegal alien until we slammed his phone and email lines. I personally don’t think anyone will. Lamar has too much power and influence with the state rinos.
Oh, PLEASE, no. Lamar! the RINO needs to join Lott in retirement. Either Sessions or Dr. Coburn for Whip.
Kyl jumped the shark on shamnesty.
Or preferably, put them both in the leadership with Coburn for Republican Leader and Sessions for Republican Whip. ;-)
Even better. Of course, Coburn is too much of an iconoclast to get him a leadership posting.
