Are you going to vote in the November 2008 election no matter who wins the Republican primary?

Posted on 11/25/2007 5:29:03 PM PST by cradle of freedom

I would like to know if you are going to vote in the November 2008 election even if your candidate does not win. Will you stay home if you don't like the Republican candidate?

Another thing that I have often wondered about is whether people actually stay home when they are disheartened. News commentators often say that some voters may have decided to stay home because they were not happy with the candidates. I think that is a mistake because even if you do not like the person at the top of the ticket you should at least vote for the other candidates. Have you every actually stayed home and not gone to the polls at all because you were not happy with a candidate?

I understand what you mean, but when you have Ben Nelson from Nebraska who is a Democrat and he is to the right of Guiliani. Doesn’t that say something about Rudy????? Yes you are probably thinking that Ben Nelson should switch to Republican but for whatever reason he feels that being a Democrat in a red state works for him somehow.

Perhaps “need” did not communicate my feelings accurately. Let me sum it up for you:

A free and secure America requires sacrifice and integrity on the part of individuals. My history includes 12 years of sacrifice, including serving in a war zone and receiving combat pay onboard a U.S. warship. My integrity developed during my service to the point that I will not sacrifice the basic tenets of my beliefs in the name of political or social expediency. I’m now a gunsmith and gunstore owner who is educated on historical issues pertaining to our country. Giuliani and Romney have a PROVEN track record of contempt for the 2nd Amendment to the Constitution and the INDIVIDUAL RIGHTS protected therein. There can be no argument of that REALITY.

Therefore, I will write in an acceptable candidate if one does not appear on the ballot. It’s not a “political act,” it’s a vote for a candidate who represents the intent of our Constitution.

One point I think many people are missing on this thread is that very few FReepers want to see Rudy anywhere on the ballot.

However, if that should happen, I will vote for the (R), and his republican VP, as well as his republican administration, which is more than just Rudy.

As for selling your soul, if you do anything other than vote republican, your soul might be released form your earthly body much quicker than you might have planned.

A democrap administration is a death sentence for many Americans. How do you think the WOT will be handled under Hillary, or Obama?

Have you thought at all about our troops, who will have to take orders from the feelgood party of no responsibility???

What is disgusting is that so many FReepers are so damned short sighted that they can ONLY think of themselves.

Sell your soul, my ass. You vote third party (anyone remember Perot, and how we got Clinton #1???), write in, or stay home, you are selling the country down the river, as well as your fellow conservatives.

I know I'm in the minority here, and I know that many of you don't believe this, but this election is really not what many here think it is. It's not Democrat vs Republican. There is little difference between Hillary and Rudy, and the important thing is, they're both globalists. So despite Rudy's pretense to be a Republican, they're basically both on the same team. That means with either of them, we lose, in a major way, and it most likely will be irreversible.

I know that trying to convince people here is almost impossible, and I'm sure I'll get mocked for saying this, but the reality is, our country is being subverted by people with an agenda for something different, an eventual world government, which will mean the end of this country as we know it. I'm not necessarily saying that it's going to happen soon, but we're heading there, step by step, and the way these people have managed to do that, is to try to take over both major parties - that is why you can see there is little difference between the D's and the R's, and that way, as long as the 2 nominees are both globalists, they win either way.

So, if ends up being Hillary and Rudy, it's globalist vs globalist.

Ron Paul is one of the few candidates who is not CFR, he is not sold out to their agenda for global government, he is strongly pro-constitution, pro-liberty, pro-sovereignty, and that is exactly why he has been virtually ignored or downplayed by the MSM, because he's not one of them, and he is a threat to their agenda.

So what this race is really coming down to is not Republican vs Democrat, but CFR vs Ron Paul.

You guys can take CFR if you want. You will (even if unknowingly and unintentionally) be a part of destroying not only the Republican party, but this country. I'll take the candidate willing to fight against this agenda. And even though there are a couple other non-globalists, Paul is the ONLY one with the following, passionate and growing support, and to answer your original question, he is the ONLY one who can beat Hillary.

Please watch this video and what I just said about both parties being hijacked, is explained in this speech in the video. Watch the whole thing though, because he doesn't start talking about that until about halfway through the video.

And I think it's the most indecent and disgusting thing to be so selfish as to make sure that Hillary is elected. Seriously.

Wake up. There's no difference between Hillary and Rudy. You are the one handing Hillary the election, because Rudy is not going to win.

We’re dealing with a bunch of self-important egomaniacs here who place their pride above the safety of the country and the entire free world.

Well, that's one point of view. Our view is that folks like you should somehow find a way to free yourselves from your mysterious infatuation with Rudy Giuliani.

Rudy is what he is and there isn't any way to make him over. He has been consistently dishonest with and unfaithful to those who have relied upon him. He obviously cannot manage the responsibilities of a family and yet folks like you want to put him in charge of the nation and, in fact, the world. When it was time for him to serve our country, he manipulated the selective service system to protect his own butt. Now, folks like you hail him as some sort of valiant warrior that we just can't function without. He was unable to maintain the respect of New York's first-responders and yet folks like you now promise that he'll somehow be able to win the respect of our troops.

The reality is that Rudy Giuliani toys with the emotions of gullible people by talking tough. Well, if he's so tough, why did the terrorists choose his city as our weak spot? Anytime anybody asks a Rudy fan what Rudy actually DID on 9/11, we hear that "he was there" and he even went to a victim's daughter's wedding. Tough talk is just that, a lot of talk. Rudy has nothing in his background that warrants his being elected president.

You Rudy fans are just going way too far this time. I cannot ask our troops to salute a man like Rudy and thus I will be obligated to vote against him.

Every chance I get.

Maybe those of you who are smitten with Rudy should cool your passions for him and give the matter some thought.

I’m not supporting any candidate yet. I will vote in the primary for the candidate who I believe has the best chance of beating Hillary. In the general election I will vote for the Republican nominee, whoever he may be.

Paul is an isolationist. He also has no chance of winning the nomination. Neither do Hunter or Tancredo, or probably Huckabee.

"With the exception of a few decent people here not willing to sell their souls, this thread is the most disgusting thing I have ever seen in my life. Seriously."

Oh please with the drama already! Some us refuse to allow Hillary to select the next 3 Supreme Court Justices which will screw this country for the next 30 years minimum. You just sit back and keep your "moral code" intact while us Conservatives keep Hillary from the Whitehouse, Supreme Court, and from being Commander in Chief. Not to mention keeping this country from becoming a Marxist State of Entitlements.

We REAL Conservatives will do what is necessary so that you can take the high road with your "moral code" and feel all good about yourself. We sacrifice ourselves for you! ;-)

"Paul is an isolationist. He also has no chance of winning the nomination. Neither do Hunter or Tancredo, or probably Huckabee."

I think many people have been conditioned to accept this interventionist-meddling-nation building-propping up dictators-policing the world foreign policy, that anyone who disagrees, even if they believe in the constitutional and traditional Republican foreign policy, you consider "isolationist." But that's not the case at all.

I agree that Hunter and Tancredo unfortunately have no chance. Paul does have a growing amount of support, and I think the polls are a bit misleading, because he has a lot of support from young people who haven't voted in an election yet, or third-party conservatives, independents, libertarians and others who the phone polls may not reach, if they are only phoning the remaining Republican base, who are for the war and Bush. I really think that many of you here are underestimating the amount of support he has, and the passion behind it. As time goes on, more and more people are waking up about the one-party system masquerading as two, so his support is going to keep growing.

We disagree as to whether there is an imminent risk.

France waited over 70 years for Sarkozy and there was no guarantee that they would ever see a President like him.

Here's the truth, for those idiots that talk about staying home- what a childish, selfish act

Voting for somebody who not only doesn't share your core principles, but actively works against them, just so you can back a winner, is a childish, selfish act.

A vote for Rudy is a vote against conservatism.

Very true... But it's also a vote...

Against Hillary and that beast's agenda

Against having a veto-proof majority in both houses, which is what we'll have if you folks stay home

For having 70% of what I want, vs. 10%

I'd rather get someone like Romney, McCain. or Rudy for 4 years, and buy the time to work on grooming better candidates for future elections...

It's not just about winning or losing... Losing HAS huge consequences... Too bad some folks are just way too myopic to see that.
