Why?

In my opinion it's a wonderful city with a great history but it's nannyism has gotten out of hand. Too many liberal politicians whose only goal in life seems to be figuring out ways they can control the lives of everybody.

Because the voters of ny/nyc have brought a nanny/Police-State on themselves, and CONTINUE to enable the left-wing establishment year after year.

Another question could be, "If you don't live there, then why would you care?"

Because this UN-AMERICAN liberalism gets pushed on the rest of the country by powerful left-wing media, and by all-too-powerful elected bureaucrats from this Bluest-of-Blue "Peoples Republic".

I will say this with all due respect. I resent and dislike any city, state, county etc. in this country that deprive me of my 2nd amendment rights. I can not go the NYC and live as a free woman. If I was to move there I would have to not take my lawfully owned firearms and ammo. I woud be forced to either by a felon or a FREE woman. That is why I dislike and will never again set foot in NYC. Nothing there I can not get somewhere else. I will not give up my property or freedom or my life for stepping foot in NYC. Got IT>

When the grid went down and blacked out NYC and a large area of surrounding real estate after 9-11, the press and politicians fell all over each other thanking and praising NYC for not tearing the ever-living crap out of the city and each other during that night of blackout.

Much of the rest of the nation rolled it's eyes in disgust that people had to be praised for acting like responsible human beings.

That's one answer for your question.
