[history]
Its purpose is to silence free speech.
And, to shut down discussion of any and all subjects which offend the perpetually aggrieved, professional whiners & moaners.
The skull behind the Smiley Face of "political correctness" is revealed-- and bear in mind, the Legal Jackal, Richard Warman, behind all this is getting rich, using the law to cudgel people in to silence-- but the threat, to free speech, is real:

Oh, yeah, he wants $150,000 in damages, but he is willing to settle this for the bargain price of $10,900.
I can't think of any words that are contemptuous enough to use in response to that. |
Backhoe says:
What a sorry, conniving, thieving little bastard.
Abusing the might and majesty of the law to extort money from innocent people.
And, to silence them.
All under the aegis of "rights..."
At least with a common street criminal, you know you are dealing with a crook- he is nothing more than a silk-shirted thief.
Connie, you let us know what you need- me and Miss Emily are far from rich, but we'll scrape the floorboards, and I can always bump the fundraisers with drivel and doggerel and musings from the swamps of Georgia...
Get the meanest, most aggressive lawyer you can find.
The above story is a subset of this:

This affects all of us.
If Richard Warman, Hyena in a $1,000 suit, can silence one site- he can silence another.

The left is at war with normal people. They are ruthless and without principle.

Interesting. That’s why I like to have information before reacting (usually)...:)
I recall a similar situation here recently that aimed to get FReepers up in arms re a Republican congressman, Dolittle was the name, I think. Other people’s spats cannot necessarily be extrapolated into political issues.

Canada has "hate speech" laws that allow suits. SPLC would certainly file similar suits in the US if it could.
I wonder what in the world could be the basis of this lawsuit? Free Dominion does not allow racist posts.

I was the first one up here too after a sumptous meal last night of grilled cheese sandwiches and Campbell’s Beef soup with Vegetables; got up to go outside in the freezing cold and get the paper to read in the garage, heated only by a single Walmart quartz tube heater.
I washed my face in what was left of last night’s dishwater and sat down here after my wife and daughter went to buy half-off store brand diapers for the baby.
Just counting my blessings. :)

"Does anyone else agree that freedom of speech means that we will have to be willing to let those we disagree with have their say?"I'd say you've pretty much defined freedom of speech in a nutshell, yes. Can't imagine any conservative who'd disagree with you.

I sort of knew there was a site similar to FR in Canada, but honestly forgot it’s existence until now. There must be some way to help them.

A Canadian woman has been fined for posting bible scriptures on an US based internet server regarding homosexuality and warned she will be jailed if she posts any scriptures now outlawed by the CHRC they have listed as offending. The bible is now hate literature.Oh, my good lord. Canada is truely in serious trouble.
