"We need more cops like him to deal with scumbag jerks like this driver. "

Scumbag jerks like this fellow American citizen? Scumbag jerks with their wife and baby in the car to hear him scream in pain when an officer of the law hits him with a powerful jolt of electricity? Scumbag jerks that believe that they have the right to know why they have been stopped and the right to know why they are being apprehended?

Since when did we become a state governed by people with badges and uniforms? Sounds like something from nazi Germany, for gosh sakes!

He did call. You can see him doing so. I’ve watched it several times and don’t think he did anything wrong. The guy got out behind him and he drew his weapon. This guy was leaving. Whether he decided “I guess I better stay in the car”, or “I’m getting out of here”, who knows but the cop could have at least pulled him out of the road after he fell down.

Washington state doesn’t require signatures any more on tickets. Just one more little bit of our freedoms taken away. I always liked to sign mine “(under duress)All right reserved - my name” cops always gave me a look when they saw that. Now I can’t anymore.

This driver was NOT a scumbag jerk. This driver was convinced he had done nothing wrong. AND this cop failed to explain what the driver had done wrong. This cop was wrong from the start.

The cops work FOR us. WE don’t work for them.

“Good for the officer.”

The cop was likely technically justified in his actions, however, I think we can pretty much all agree (except maybe for you) that the cops actions stop well short of praiseworthy.

I wish the cops would worry about real criminals

I agree completely. The officer was way out of line.

Do you always pass judgement after hearing only one side of the story? Who submitted this video? How do we know it hasn't been edited to remove incriminating frames? Why is there no timestamp on the video to aid us in determining there are no gaps?

“He did call”

Could you point me to when this happens. I just watched it again and I don’t see it.

Technical. That’s the term I was looking for. As I said, I didn’t see he did anything wrong but I didn’t like it.

Before the guy gets out the officer steps back and looks like he pressed his radio on his left shoulder. I have no audio though. See if that is what it looks like to you.

Poor judgement on the Officers part, not by the book IMO. Need to see their operating policy guidelines. If this was correct procedure, there is something seriously wrong in this country.

Agreed. I mentioned before that at 7:10 of the video, there appears to be a ~10 minute gap, based on the cloud movement..Who edited that out? Utah or somebody sympathetic to the driver?

There’s a very simple equation:
The amount of attitude is inversely proportional to the leeway given.

This guy started it out bad and he was responsible for the outcome.

The cop tasered him where he stood because it’s inadviseable to ask the subject to move to a more advantageous position. The guy fell in the road because that’s where he stood after disobeying the officer. Pure and simple, the doofus chose the spot of his tasering.

Felony witness tampering?
Really?
Really, Really?

And he ordered the woman back into the car because he couldn’t control her actions and those of her doofus husband at the same time. Perfectly normal and acceptable.

He might have gotten a bit more leeway, but the doofus brought the attitude. So many, many bad choices by the guy.

We all need these videos in our cars. I suspect they would be a lot more friendlier if they knew we were recording too:’)

You can see on the video that the only jump is while the cop is writing the ticket.

Amazing.
You fail to address the alternatives to the taser (club, wrassling, choke hold, gun) which have all proven to be more fatal than the taser.

Again, HE DIDN’T TASER HIM BECAUSE OF A TICKET.
The doofus in the car escalated it to an arrest and when he resisted arrest, THEN he got the taser.

Go ahead and take away those tasers and watch the deaths and injuries climb from the remaining options.
