BAKERSFIELD, CALIFORNIA: Leading Democratic party presidential candidate Hillary Clinton may have severely damaged her position among Sikh supporters by abruptly cancelling an appearance as a guest of honour at Guru Nanak’s birthday celebrations which thousands of Sikhs attended here. What made the perceived put-off worse was the lack of a coherent explanation on Hillary’s part for the withdrawal.
"We don’t know what the reason is," Tejpal Singh, a trucking company owner told the ‘New York Sun’. "They just tell us last night. ... Everybody’s shocked. They want to see her." According to him, two weeks ago Clinton had promised to spend about half an hour at the festival, one of the most important for the Sikh community. "Unfortunately, we had to postpone our trip to Bakersfield and look forward to returning soon," Blake Zeff, Clinton’s spokesman told the paper.
Clinton also missed a fund-raising breakfast where her Sikh supporters planned to raise $1 million for her campaign. Bob Virk, one of the organisers of the fund-raiser lamented that the $500,000 raised so far for the breakfast will have to be refunded.
"I’ll take $1 million from our Sikh people and give it to people who are going to work with us ... not somebody who says they’re going to work with you and deserts you at the end," Virk said. Virk also alleged racism. "We’re a minority group. We wear turbans. ... They don’t want to see Hillary Clinton with people wearing turbans and stuff," he said.

These people need to understand that mrs bill clliton.. wife of impeached ex president bill cliton, is not fluent in sihksanese, so she can address them like she did the southern people..

It doesn’t make sense that Sikhs would support a woman. The ones in this area make their women walk 20 feet behind them, unless I am mistaken and they are not Sikhs but some other Turban related religion.
She'd watched The Simpsons for hours, and had the Apu lilt down pat, until someone told her that Apu was a Hindu, not a Sikh.
