Lions for Lambs per Theater Box Office is Tanking
Spreadsheet analysis from Box Office Mojo

Posted on 11/19/2007 8:52:56 AM PST by VA Voter

Lions for Lambs ranked 19th in the average total box office proceeds per theater per day over the 11/16-11/18 weekend. Because of the large number of theaters carrying this film it ranked 8th in gross proceeds.

Box office per theater is what theater owners care most about and this poor showing will hasten the dropoff in total theaters carrying this bomb.

Hmmmm, this is serious - maybe Pelosi or Boxer can get through a government program that provides aid for Hollywood ideologues that lose money in a propaganda film. I laugh but it damn well could come true.

Yeah - see, that sort of courageous filmmaking has an intrinsic value to society not reflected at the box office, so if you and I won't give them money the government ought to take it for them...from you and me. It's for our own good.

There are people who would advance that argument with a straight face. At least one is running for President.

When it costs $9.25 a ticket and 12.50 for popcorn and two drinks, it’s no surprise that many people just wait for the dvd to come out.

Since the public schools are propagandizing our kids with Gore’s nonsensical environmental film, maybe the NEA can pressure every school in the country to buy copies of these anti-war flops to show to the kiddies.

I haven't seen any of the current crop of turkeys. The last good leftist movie was The Battleship Potemkin in 1925! I accidentally saw the Orwellian V For Vendetta a couple of years ago, so I've had my fill of cinematic attacks on Western Civilization for a while.

Of course Hollywood and their liberal buddies will spin this as the American public not caring about the war, or at least not knowing the “truth” about the war and that’s what is so wrong with America.

No guys...we just don’t care for propaganda films that use fictional contrived situations you write up and put to sad music to attempt to convince us that America is always wrong and evil.

No. But I am sure that over in DUmmieland it will have been seen by everyone and a HUGE hit with them. And the comments about bad box office returns will be that it is because we are “stupid” and “unlightened”

Your point would make sense if nobody was going to the movies. But, as you can see, there are plenty of moviegoers paying the $9.25. They're just not paying to see THAT particular piece of dreck.

Which is, of course, the entire point of this post.

“..people just wait for the dvd to come out.”

In the case of this movie it would have to hit the 99 cent rack at the dollar store before I would buy it.....maybe.
