An anti-illegal immigrant sentiment is taking hold in the Houston region, according to a new Rice University survey showing that most white residents in Fort Bend, Galveston and Montgomery counties favor punishing employers who hire undocumented workers.

The survey, released Thursday, reflects how contentious the illegal immigration debate has become and provides a fresh glimpse into regional attitudes about a subject that's increasingly becoming a major presidential election issue.

An awful lot of Blacks, Hispanics and Asians in my area feel the same way so it’s not just a “White” thing as the MSM would have us believe.

Here we go again. This will taken as proof of rampant xenophobia. Yet, while it’s okay for blacks, hispanics, Chinese, and every other minority dominated culture to want to preserve their heritage somehow whites with a European heritage will be seen as evil for wanting to preserve theirs.

Notice he doesn't deny that "hispanics are being bashed (for being the cause) for all the problems in society" but simply shrugs it off as though the "need" for immigrants outweighs the "problems".

Not according to today's definition. Hispanic is a seperate culture/race. Just look at a Census form.

Nor do they equate themselves with any European culture. If you have proof to the contrary I would like to see it.

As far as an "American" culture that already exists. It's those that advocate a "new America" that are trying to change the culture.

We are now one of the largest Spanish-speaking nations in the world. We're a major source of Latin music, journalism and culture.

Just go to Miami, or San Antonio, Los Angeles, Chicago or West New York, New Jersey ... and close your eyes and listen. You could just as easily be in Santo Domingo or Santiago, or San Miguel de Allende.

For years our nation has debated this change -- some have praised it and others have resented it. By nominating me, my party has made a choice to welcome the new America.

Our future cannot be separated from the future of Latin America.

Further: How do we develope any thing other than an hispanic culture when 80% of immigrants both legal and illegal are hispanic? What happened to the melting pot? Is it now restricted to a "chili pot"?

That did my heart good to see that site. I love especially that there is a Citizenship Resources that includes English Language Training, Care and Handling of the US Flag, the US Constitution, and the Pledge of Allegiance.
These are immigrants...whom I wholeheartedly and unabashedly support and encourage. Big difference between them and ILLEGALS!

Now there's a RACIST way of doing a survey.
(surely there are all sorts of statistical methods that could have
been employed to use responses from a DIVERSE population).

This sounds like a survey purposely employed to make non-whites
look/sound like knucle-dragging members of the KKK.

And purposely constructed to NOT reveal that plenty of NON-whites
citizens are also ticked about the invasion of OUR country.

Preceding generations of African-American voters did it to themselves.
They voted lock-step for Democrats in favor of NOT enforcing immigration
law for decades...
long enough that some Republicans decided to get elected by following

This has led to a sad situation for blacks today. They are paying a
high price for the unbending loyalty of their forbearors to the Democratic Party.
