Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue is the subject of much chatter around the blogosphere for leading several hundred Georgia citizens in a public prayer for rain. Georgia has been in the midst of a drought this year, which is ruining agriculture crops and causing water shortages. So Mr. Perdue asked for divine intervention on Georgians' behalf. He and colleagues came together Tuesday to "pray for a storm."
Sure enough, two days later, an unpredicted cloudburst dropped an inch of rain over the southeast. But the rain wasn't everybody's idea of a happy ending. The Atlanta Freethought Society staged a public protest against the holding of a religious observance at the seat of state government, saying the rain vigil violated the separation of Church and State. An AP headline sourly noted: "US South gets rain after a governor prays for it, but not enough to ease historic drought."

At the bottom of the page.
FWIW most of the state only got a quarter of an inch.
Pray again and see if you get more!
We could pray for a flood :>)
Nah, been done before.
Yeah! Lay the fleece out twice! :oP
The last time I checked, post hoc ergo propter hoc was still on the list of logical fallacies.
I see no problem with him leading prayer for rain... but the bit about the rain being unpredicted is nonsense....
Before he did all this, most forecasts called for 30-60% chances for rain over Tuesday and Wednesday....
I admire Governor Perdue, too bad he doesn’t seem to have national ambitions.
That's laughable. It's less than a toss up. I can do that good. It might rain and it might not.
I could care less what the athiests are mad about. They are just as bad a leftists with their selective outrage.
Who were the atheists praying to, so the rain would NOT come? Because this surely had to be a group effort....
Oh. In Georgia, the atheists are so few in number, it wouldn’t make a material difference anyway.
Or the muzzies taking offense at everything.
bump
That is EXACTLY what the Governor should say out loud and very publicly. It would help him a great deal in Georgia.
No, 30% is more like 'it might rain, but probably won't'
I remember in the early 90's, central Texas was suffering from a drought. The folks in San Antonio prayed for rain, and they ended up with a damaging flood on the river through town.
I think ‘athiests’ in these stories should be called ‘antitheists’, because that more accurately describes what they are.
Now let’s pray for a fence..............
That's 30%, what I quoted was 30%-60%.
I can not believe the Gov signed an official document declaring a State sponsored faith.... oh wait...he didn’t.
OK, wait...what did he do that violates the actual Constitution? I must have missed that part...
Is there anyone more insufferable than an atheist who just can’t stand any mention of religion?
I agree with the distinction between athiests and antithiests. An athiest could not care less about God because he knows God does not exist so he ignores the issue. An antithiest on the other hand knows God exists and fights Him at all costs. Ya gotta feel sorry for them
