Frontal Assault on Freedom: FBI Raids Liberty Dollar Posted by BJT on Nov 15, 2007 Read this email closely. I just got it this morning. Those of you who consider the gold standard a quaint anachronism, pay extra close attention. If Ron Paul supporters, gold standard advocates and the Liberty Dollar were nothing but harmless kooks, why would the FBI raid their offices when no crime was ever committed? This is a currency competing with the USD, yes, but they never, but never make the claim that it is legal tender or anything other than what it is: private currency. And private currencies are numerous in the USA.

No. This raid happened because the Liberty Dollar, the second most popular currency in the country, threatens to usurp the entrenched power of the Fed’s Almighty Dollar. People can see the buying power of the greenback eroding, and they will choose something else if it is available, and the Liberty Dollar is ready and waiting. And that’s why the government must resort to force in order to protect its stranglehold on the economy.

From Liberty Dollar Headquarters: Dear Liberty Dollar Supporters:

I sincerely regret to inform you that about 8:00 this morning a dozen FBI and Secret Service agents raided the Liberty Dollar office in Evansville.

For approximately six hours they took all the gold, all the silver, all the platinum and almost two tons of Ron Paul Dollars that where just delivered last Friday. They also took all the files, all the computers and froze our bank accounts.

We have no money. We have no products. We have no records to even know what was ordered or what you are owed. We have nothing but the will to push forward and overcome this massive assault on our liberty and our right to have real money as defined by the US Constitution. We should not to be defrauded by the fake government money.

But to make matters worse, all the gold and silver that backs up the paper certificates and digital currency held in the vault at Sunshine Mint has also been confiscated. Even the dies for mint the Gold and Silver Libertys have been taken.

This in spite of the fact that Edmond C. Moy, the Director of the Mint, acknowledged in a letter to a US Senator that the paper certificates did not violate Section 486 and were not illegal. But the FBI and Services took all the paper currency too.

The possibility of such action was the reason the Liberty Dollar was designed so that the vast majority of the money was in specie form and in the people’s hands. Of the $20 million Liberty Dollars, only about a million is in paper or digital form.

I regret that if you are due an order. It may be some time until it will be filled… if ever… it now all depends on our actions.

Everyone who has an unfulfilled order or has digital or paper currency should band together for a class action suit and demand redemption. We cannot allow the government to steal our money! Please don’t let this happen!!! Many of you read the articles quoting the government and Federal Reserve officials that the Liberty Dollar was legal. You did nothing wrong. You are legally entitled to your property. Let us use this terrible act to band together and further our goal – to return America to a value based currency.

Please forward this important Alert… so everyone who possess or use the Liberty Dollar is aware of the situation.

Please click HERE to sign up for the class action lawsuit and get your property back!

If the above link does not work you can access the page by copying the following into your web browser. http://www.libertydollar.org/classaction/index.php

Thanks again for your support at this darkest time as the damn government and their dollar sinks to a new low.

If I have low intelligence, yet have the ability to easily dispute your non-points, where does that put you on the IQ scale?

Ouch.

By the way, what's with "L.Ron"? I've never seen his full name listed as anything other than "Ronald Ernest Paul" and don't know where the "L" is coming from. A mistyping of "El Ron" doesn't make sense because he's anti-illegal and pro-border security.

It is a cross reference to another cult leader, L. Ron Hubbard...

So you have questions about Scientology...

I don’t know, read their web page cache in post 200.

On the one hand, they’re describing it as a barter currency and including what I presume are well written disclaimers.

On the other, they’re clearly marketing it as an alternative to US currency. If marketing it as an alternative currency is a crime, I doubt the disclaimers are worth a thing. That marketing strategy may turn out to be a mistake.

On a lighter note.

MAN PAYS FOR BEER WITH SUSPICIOUS COIN

Police responded to a report of fraud in progress at Brunswick Lanes, 9751 W. 49th Ave., at 10:58 p.m. Oct. 23. The bowling establishment's manager told police a man had paid for a pitcher of beer with a fake coin, which officers observed to be a Liberty Dollar coin. The customer in question, a 25-year-old Golden man, said his friend had given him the coin to use and that he thought it was legal tender. An officer checked the Liberty Dollar Web site and found the coin to be legitimate. The bowling alley allowed the customer to pay for the beer with different currency and returned the coin. Police advised the customer that although the coin was legal, he should check with the vendor before trying to use it in the future.

Why do I get the feeling that this is about fraud, not minting a legal alternate currency?

That's called counterfeiting.

I somehow got on a Liberty Dollar e-mail list. They wouldn’t take me off!!! And, there’s no unsubscribe link in their messages. My spam filter now just deletes their stuff, but I’m not happy being on a list they have somewhere!

Use as big a font as you like, I don’t care. You’re posting the words of someone at Liberty Dollar, not someone from L.Ron’s campaign. Where’s L.Ron’s denial? Where’s his cease and desist to the Liberty Dollar people?

L.Ron is an acknowledgment of your boy's similarity to that other great cult founder and general nutbar, L.Ron Hubbard.

So would the Paul campaign accept a campaign contribution in Liberty Dollars? How do you report that to the FEC, what US$ equivalent do you assign to a Ron Paul Liberty Dollar?

I think this whole LD thing is an interesting concept, but can see where Herr von NutHaus has flown too close to the sun by passing them off as an alternative currency. Yes, barter is perfectly legal, but he doesn’t seem to be selling these as barter, he’s pimping these as truly some sort of alternative to the US dollar.

I just hope they’re real careful handling all that heavy metal in the FBI evidence room.

Disagree. I think you are being spun. Upon closer read, these guys tickled the dragon’s tail FAR beyond overcharging for silver rounds. disc: I’m no RP supporter, I’m not a fan of the Fed, I like precious metals as items of enduring value.

Federal Reserve Notes may be items of arbitrary value, but a private “mint” issuing paper “currency” is a black-letter violation of securities laws in 50 states. If one isn’t happy about the Fed/US Treasury debasing the USD, then one cannot be happy about a private mint issuing paper and calling it currency.

If this is for real, isn’t it against the law to mint money? Is that the reason for the raid?

‘If this is for real, isn’t it against the law to mint money? Is that the reason for the raid?’

Another question that will be answered when we see the search warrant. I don’t know what the legal reasons for the raid are based upon.

It is merely gold bullion formed and stamped in a reliable fasion, no different than other “gold coins” offered by foreign countries - neither is legally considered “money” here. While the term “money” is thrown around, exchanging it for goods/services is BARTER.

Or should someone be locked up for swapping a Kuggerand for a TV?
