It is merely gold bullion formed and stamped in a reliable fasion, no different than other “gold coins” offered by foreign countries - neither is legally considered “money” here. While the term “money” is thrown around, exchanging it for goods/services is BARTER.
Or should someone be locked up for swapping a Kuggerand for a TV?

They also have USA stamped on it and the US Mint and the DOJ warned them previously. DOJ has determined it is a federal crime. Play with fire and attempt to undermine our country while at war, you will get burned and deservedly so.
