Warren Buffett has said it before and he's likely to say it again to Congress on Wednesday: He thinks the heirs of the wealthy should be taxed on their inheritance.
Buffett, one of the world's richest men and now its biggest philanthropist, has been an outspoken critic of efforts to repeal the estate tax and is scheduled to testify at a Senate Finance Committee hearing on how current law affects estate tax planning.
[snip]"Without the estate tax, you in effect will have an aristocracy of wealth, which means you pass down the ability to command the resources of the nation based on heredity rather than merit," Buffett told the New York Times in 2001. "[Repeal would be like] choosing the 2020 Olympic team by picking the eldest sons of the gold-medal winners in the 2000 Olympics."

By all means Warren you are welcome to tax your heirs into poverty....but speak only for yourself. I have no interest in your version of liberal socialism.
Their trotting out Buffett again? LOL!
Fine. Pass a rider on the bill to kill the death tax that exempts his family.
Must be nice having the where-with-all to afford such high quality crack!
Stoopid communists!
Hey Warren, why don’t you just shut the heck up and write a check to the government. It’s a novel thought called putting your money where your loud mouth is.
easy for Buffet to say... he won’t be around to experience the results. you know... I think I’ve figured out the agenda of liberalism: spread misery equally to all.
I’m giving away all my money after I’m dead too!
“”Without the estate tax, you in effect will have an aristocracy of wealth”
Better that than a tyrannical gov’t who feeds off the dead.
The inherent vice of capitalism is the unequal sharing of blessings; the inherent virtue of socialism is the equal sharing of miseries. Winston Churchill
This is a typical Socialist POS. He has got his and put his money in foundations to exempt himself from taxation. Then, he hires his kids and pays them big salaries. This is a tax scheme the rich have been dong for years.
I can’t stand this fat old blow hard. He and his wife are still married, but don’t live together, so he does not have to cough up half his earnings. I wish she would go ahead and divorce the old fart and take half. That would get him off the top ten richest people list for sure.
In fact, Warren has funded the tax-exempt foundations of his children so that there is no tax due there either. From those foundations, his children can be taken care of generously for life for operating the charity.
Warren is being a hypocrite.
I meant....They’re trotting out Buffett again?
Here this guy uses every means to lessen his taxes then decides to give his vast fortune to the Gates Foundation free of estate taxes, just what do I think?
As Doc Hollday said in “Tombstone”, “My Hypocrisy only goes so far”.
Buffett set his kids up with bs do-gooder foundations for the protection of crybabies; each draws a fat salary from his/her foundation to do nothing. Of course he can be for the estate tax.
when the buffet kids were on Donny (unperfected) Deutch’s show, they admitted that none of them ever finished college.
Warren, if you believed that estates should go to the government, why have you structured yours so that it goes to your pet projects and not to the government?
Does he even get the hypocrisy?
I'd feel better having the families of financially successful people keep their money rather than having the gooberment snatch it up for redistribution.
Using executive control of financial means to force parity works for the NFL, not our personal lives.
