I Don't Want a Fire In The Belly!!!
11/13/2007 | Me

Posted on 11/13/2007 9:55:44 AM PST by Rita Hayworth

I DON'T WANT A FIRE IN THE BELLY!!

So what if Fred Thompson isn't every where at every moment.

Who cares that being the US President hasn't been his lifelong dream?

So he isn't doing back flips or some other idiotic stunt to get attention.

Where has that gotten us before?

Well.... Bill Clinton has the fire since he was a little boy. We all know how that turned out.

Saddam, Chavez, Quadafy, and even Hitler were brimming with Belly Fire.

I want a man who will keep my country safe, who will have a responsible stewardship of the economy, and protect the Constitution and States Rights.

I want a Statesman. I want a leader. I don't want someone who has to be all things to all people.

We all know the fable of the tortoise and the hare. Well I want a tortoise. I want slow and steady.

I don't want Las Vegas in the White House. We had enough of that garbage in the 90s. Give me a man who stands by his word and can stand up to Nasty Nancy and Harry Reid and the rest of the nutjobs who think that they can run a war better than the generals.

Ok, that's enough for now. I am not a good writer and not very eloquent but I think that I have common sense.

I’ve always thought that seeking public office should automatically disqualify one from holding it.

You don’t want fire in the belly? Then why use so many exclamation points?

You’re not suggesting he’s going to ‘breed’ us, are you?

Isn’t it interesting how the electorate is manipulated without even being aware? 99.999% of them would never question whether it is even appropriate to choose someone who ‘has always wanted to be president’.

Such is the not unintentional result of government-run education.

The old bull says “Lets walk down the hill and breed them all.”

"But first, let's sit here and ponder on it awhile."

"But Dad, the cows are leaving..."

"Don't be in such a dag gum hurry, Son."

"Too late, Dad. Looks like the cows have all gone over to Ferdinand's paddock."

Tell us about Orson Welles. What was he really like?

I will let his quotes speak for the man......

Ask not what you can do for your country. Ask what's for lunch.

Gluttony is not a secret vice.

I hate television. I hate it as much as I hate peanuts. But I can't stop eating peanuts.

I passionately hate the idea of being with it, I think an artist has always to be out of step with his time.

My doctor told me to stop having intimate dinners for four. Unless there are three other people.

Now we sit through Shakespeare in order to recognize the quotations. - 6 Quotations

It's the media that tells us Fred needs to be more hyperactive, just like they kept telling us it was too late for him to enter the race. But you can be sure if Fred were a fiery go-getter, the media would say he's "too hot ... needs to slow down ... alienating voters with his barnstorming style..."

In other words, in this as in everything, the media is complete propaganda, and not to be taken seriously.

Has he ever explained why he voted against the Clinton impeachment?

Anybody who was President of their High School class automatically cannot be a candidate for POTUS, or the US Senate. That would be written into the Constitution to prevent more John Kerrys and Bill Clintons and AlGores who have been planning on an Oval office future since they were prepubescents.

God spare us from egomaniacs like Clinton, Inc. and Algore, Jr. who have invested their entire lives in clawing their way to the top of the heap so they could rule the world.

I'll take a real human being like Fred over one of them any day of the week.

Has he ever explained why he voted against the Clinton impeachment?

After you explain why you didn't look up the facts to see he did vote on one count and gave a very technical detailed legal explanation on the count he didn't vote for. He did vote for impeachment, just not on all counts.

From Shakespeare's Twelfth Night, 1601:

Malvalio:
In my stars I am above thee; but be not afraid of greatness: some are born great, some achieve greatness, and some have greatness thrust upon 'em.

You are most certainly correct at a certain level. Who wants a President who has spent his life learning to manipulate others, sell dishonestly, etc?

But I think the point about Fred is that many perceive him not to have "fire in his belly" ideologically. I think we saw that (magnified) in WJC and are seeing it now in Bush--no ideological underpinnings at all.

I don’t need Thompson to have wanted to be president from the time in his childhood that he began understanding the relationship between money, power and sex.

And I like him.

I just think that though he isn’t slow, his persona is worse than W’s (whose IQ is higher than either Gore or Kerry’s) in that regard. If Thompson would hire a speech coach to teach him to quit going “Ahhhhh” every time he stops to think like the truly terminally slow folks do, the world might see him for what he is - fairly smart.

I fear it’s probably a habit he can’t break.
