Should we stop Muslims from immigrating to the USA?

Posted on 11/12/2007 7:59:49 PM PST by cradle of freedom

Should we stop immigration by Muslims? It seems quite self evident that there are too many cultural conflicts between Islam and our way of life. Yet, our immigration system keeps allowing large numbers of Muslims to immigrate into our country causing all kinds of cultural frictions and safety concerns. The more Muslims there are in the country the more jihadists there will be in our midst, the more travel between us and Islamic countries and the harder it will be to find the jihadists among the every increasing Muslim population.

I totally agree my friend. Its time a huge faction of Americans tells their govt. officials they are PERSONALLY responsible for any harm that comes to us. There is plenty of suicidal legislation out there ,

Let me count the ways you are wrong:

1) There is nothing in the New Testament which says, “convert or kill”
2) There is plenty in the Koran that says, “convert or kill”

Islam, like Christianity is an evangelistic faith. EXCEPT, they have been charged to wage violent jihad against infidels (includes murder). Christians are charged in the New Testament to preach the gospel, and to love their enemies.

On judgment day:

1) If you ever told a lie, that makes you a liar.
2) If you ever stole ANYTHING, that makes you a thief.
3) If you ever lusted after someone other than your spouse, you are an adulterer.
4) If you ever took the Lord’s name in vain, you are a blasphemer
5) If you don’t love God so much, that your love for Father, Mother, Spouse, Children seems like hate in comparison, then you have broken the Great Commandment.

You need God’s forgiveness, if you will make it into heaven. That forgiveness comes if you believe in the Son of God (Jesus Christ), and repent of your sins.

Once you believe in Jesus Christ, the Bible says you are “dead to sin” and sin has “no power” over you. You can walk away from the most powerful addictions physical, sexual, and psychological, and thus, “walk in newness of life”.

Only a fool would invite an enemy to enter his home. I don’t think the Constitution would allow for such stupidity.

How would you enforce it? Deny entry to all people from Muslim countries, even though they may be Christian or some other faith?

How does one prove that they are or are not Muslim?

Islam is a political movement

The same could easily be said of Christianity or Judaism, to the extent its practioners engage in politics both individually and in groups.

I agree. But how does one discern if an immigrant is an enemy?

One way to narrow it down is by country of origin. But what do you do about immigrants from India, Spain, Niger, Ethiopia or other nations with significant (but not majority) Muslim populations? Do you ask: are you a Muslim? ... an enemy would lie..and you couldn't prove it. Or take the other side of the coin...what if a Saudi Muslim was escaping religious persecution so that he could convert to Christianity freely in the United States?

Stricter citizenship rules and stronger enforcement of anti-sedition laws are bettter tools than anti-Constitutional religious tests.

Oh yes, by this extension there is no difference at all between Christianity and Judaism and Islam. Oh heavens yes they are all equally bad. /sarc

The bottom line is based on what you know of these religions, which one wants to overthrow the current American government and replace it with a theocracy? Islam. Who wants to turn all non-believers of their faith into second class citizens that have to pay protection tax, who will not be allowed to practice their religions publicly, who will not be allowed to build new facilities or repair damage to existing facilities? Islam. Who wants to turn women into half a person legally and force them to cover their entire bodies? Islam. Making alcohol illegal? Islam.

Christians don’t want a theocracy. We understand America was founded as a Christian nation, but we don’t coerce or force people to be Christians. We want our government to follow the Constitution and the 1st Amendment, which prohibits the government from creating laws that restrict our freedom to exercise our religious beliefs. And that includes speaking out against the cultural issues of the day, political or not. We have every right to shame politicians who claim to be Christian yet are promoting immoral practices under the auspices and power of the government.

Jefferson’s wall of separation is not the same as Warren’s. He was never not for preachers not being able to talk about politics. In fact a good number of preachers in his day were officers in the Continental Army, and gave sermons, and then took off their robes and underneath were their uniforms, and they stood in the very same pulpit and gave a recruitment speech right damn there.

Read up on the history of the country. You will be fascinated by what occurred before LBJ’s 1954 501c(3) change occurred silencing churches on political speech. This is not what the founding fathers intended.

Nice rant. Really.

But it does not address the fact that our Constitution allows for freedom of religion. It does not allow us at this time to establish laws prohibiting the practice of the Muslim faith. If and when practioners of the Muslim faith resort to force in order to establish laws contrary to our Constitution, they must be smacked down. I am fairly certain we are doing that right now.

I can empathize with the notion we ought to prohibit immigration when it comes to Muslims, but I just don’t see how it squares with the pluralistic intent of civil law and practice as our country has been founded. Our vigilance must be focused upon those who, whether Muslim or not, would enslave us. No doubt there are certain Muslims who are intent on doing just that. But they are not unique or alone.

In short, prohibitions against the Muslim faith altogether are too broad-brushed. Much as I despise Muslim fanatics, I want no part of the hatred and bigotry that characterized Nazi Germany. Outlawing Muslim immigration and the practice of Muslim faith in our country would be a step in that direction. We need to take a deep breath and be reasonable when it comes to people who can be reasonable and productive citizens, and that includes a good many Muslims.

IMHO, islam is not a religion. It is a political and cultural ideology that uses religion as it’s instrument of power and control. It should not be given religious status in the U.S. It should be treated as the political party it is with special consideration given to the source of it’s funding, which is saudi arabia, etc.

If you can’t make a logical distinction between irrational Nazi hatred and some common sense measures against people who desire to see America under strict Islamic rule, then you are truly, truly a lost cause. America is hardly Nazi Germany, on so many levels not. And Islamists are hardly the Jews living in Germany.

Sorry, but I totally reject that analogy as being fundamentally and completely wrong.

If you are a Muslim, do you know what Christians, Jews and others suffer at the hands of Muslims in Muslim controlled countries? Do you know that in Sudan, kids are kidnapped by the Muslims, forced to convert, raped, mutilated and beaten then forced to live as slaves? I am waiting for some Muslim to admit to this and offer an apology. People who convert to Christianity can be executed according to the law in Afghanistan and Pakistan.

If you are a Muslim, you should get down on your knees and thank God that in this country Muslims are not treated the way Christians are treated in Muslims countries.

“So what do you propose we do with the 2 to 3 million?”

What do you think? islam is incompatible with our Constitution; it is incompatible with freedom. You seem to not only identify with them, but align yourself with them. You are, likely, one of them. Tell me, what has islam done — since its inception — that has benefited mankind in general? islam is about conquest, and always has been.

There were very few Muslims in this country before the 1965 immigration law. Our immigration laws used to be based on the understanding that all cultures are not compatible. After years of listening to thousands of liberal comments in our lifetimes we have all gone soggy in the head. I see it in myself from time to time even though I have been a conservative for over twenty years. Liberalism is to our culture today what water is to a fish. It surrounds us 24/7, we cannot get away from it and we are all unconciously influenced by it. Some of the comments about it not being constitutional or the American thing to do to keep people out because their culture is a danger to us, just shows how we all have been subliminally influenced by liberalism. I am not saying this to be harsh, because, as I said, I have noticed this in myself as well, but I only want to point out how recent liberal ideas and laws have saturated all of our brains to the point that our thoughts are not are own.

I don’t understand why all the peace loving muzzies want to come live in the Great Satan land. I would think they would rather live near their beloved Mecca. Could be wrong, but I think they really know where paradise is, and that is the Great Satan and not the puss infested sore called the middle east and Mecca.
