If America’s Image Is So Bad, Why Do Pro-Americans Like Sarkozy Keep Getting Elected?
North Star Writers Group ^ | November 12, 2007 | Paul Ibrahim

“It was by watching America grow that men and women understood that freedom was possible. What made America great was her ability to transform her own dream into hope for all mankind.”

No, these are not the words of Ronald Reagan. Nor are they the words of George W. Bush, Abraham Lincoln or George Washington. They are the words of the current president of France.

Bill Clinton last week was the latest to jump on the bandwagon of top Democrats suggesting that electing Hillary Clinton, or another liberal president, would be the only way for America to repair its image with the world.

The Democrats say the world hates us. One wonders what they say when the world elects pro-American leaders.

They simply ignore it, aided by their syncopants in the MSM.

The world doesn’t hate us: the Elites do - both here and abroad.

WHY?
Because deep down, people fear terrorism.
The people in France were seeing minarets by the hundreds popping up all over their country.
The Paris phone book suddenly became filled with Arab-sounding names.
The definition of what it meant to be "French" was changing.
The sidewalks, the streets, the malls were beginning to resemble turd-world countries, with groups of women floating by and gathering in head-to-toe burkhas, niquabs, and hejabs becoming a daily fixture.

Welcome to France.

Self-deluded loser. Yeah, Bill, take us back to the good old days, you jerk.

It’s Clinton’s MSM friends that have been telling us the world hates us.

I love the image America projects abroad.

Those that have a bad image of the U.S. never were friends of Democracy and Freedom and I don't really care what they think.

I'd say more abroad than in the US. In short, I tend to think that the US is a collection of people who didn't have adequate opportunities within their homelands and decided to leave. Over time, the worldwide historical belief in bloodlines was shattered and the Elites have either learned their lessons (for example Western Europe) or still don't get it (rest of the world). Ironically, the US may need to learn a few lessons in the fallacy of bloodlines.

I'm inclined to agree. However, what happens when we "common people" begin to resent the elites? One ends up with a Reagan Revolution...or a Russian Revolution.

I seriously doubt that “pro or anti-America” is a huge issue driving foreign elections, compared to internal issues. Governments have taken a conservative turn, yes, as social programs, tax burdens, and third-world immigation have become major issues. But let’s not conflate countries’ internal reasons for rejecting socialism with a referendum on American government policy—that’s just arrogance.

in the “honeymoon” period, Sarkozy is a breath of fresh air compared to his skanky predecessor, Jack ChIRAQue!! It will be interesting to see if he can reverse the socialist trend that France has endured for decades and begin to stem the flow of disenfranchised Muslim “yutes” who burn Renaults, Peugeots and Citroens out of boredom or for sport.

If the world hates us, why is it that everyone still wants to come here?

I don't know if you can slap sense into a liberal, but it's worth a try. ;o)
