GOP punishes 5 early voting states
By STEPHEN OHLEMACHER, Associated Press Writer 12 minutes ago
The Republican Party announced Thursday that it will punish five states for scheduling early nominating contests.
New Hampshire, Florida, South Carolina, Michigan and Wyoming will lose half of their delegates to the national convention, said Mike Duncan, chairman of the Republican National Committee.

This is to let the party know that we South Carolina voters can and will punish back.
My state needs to move the primaries up now. We don’t get to vote until May, and half the people on the ballot will probably have dropped out by then.
To eliminate the controversy, maybe all 50 states should hold their conventions or caucuses or whatever on the same day, say, four years prior to the election. Is that early enough?
Primaries need to be the same time across all the states. This has gotten insane.
Check this out.
Stupid is as stupid does! Are they also going have the candidates vow not to campaign in those states (like the Dems have done in Florida?)
TN moved their primary back to Feb 5 with the rest...
I think the 5 “rogue” states want to vote in Jan...
I agree. At this rate they’ll be holding the primaries the day after the election in a few cycles.
A friend of mine suggested splitting it up into four primary dates by region, and shuffling the order of the regional primary dates from one Presidential election to the next. I thought it was a pretty good idea.
Oh, how I wish there was a decent third party to vote for.
I nhave a solution....its called Indepedent/Third Party
There is no longer any difference between the GOP and the DNC...just their socialism is directed differently
I’d prefer just one day for all states about a month or two (at most) before the conventions.
I really don’t understand what this is about ....
But I do feel we ought to be very careful on just who is hurt or helped in these things.
I still don’t believe that Republicans voted Democrat or Indepentent for a ...... “I will show them vote”

Yup. Some kind of random schedule with weights for state size is going to have to happen. Maybe four group dates composed of randomly chosen states. You’d pick the top four sized states, randomly assign them, then the next four, etc.
The current ‘me first’ setup won’t work anymore.
These numbers could be wrong but I think the new delegate counts will be....
Florida - 57
Michigan - 30
Wyoming - 14
New Hampshire - 12
South Carolina - 24
So it looks like Rudy has the most to lose with this decision, with Mitt a close second.
The whole goal of these early primaries is to make sure that the candidates that the elites in the GOP have pre-selected (i.e Rudy this time) is given the best chance to win. This way, other candidates without the same cache of money will have a tougher time challenging the candidate already chose for us.
It really stinks.
Our party has turned against the conservatives.
LOL
