SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- The American Automobile Association of California said some drivers are now paying up to $5 a gallon for regular unleaded gasoline.
Crude oil prices hit an all-time high Wednesday, above $98 a barrel and analysts said with worldwide oil demand rising -- it is still not clear just how high prices will go.
In Salinas, AAA recorded an average of $3.39 per gallon. Santa Cruz is at an average of $3.37 per gallon.
KSBW checked and found gas in Gorda, south of Big Sur, is even higher. Drivers there are paying $5 for gas.
Over the past two weeks gas has gone up 15 cents in California alone, according to AAA.
Even at $4.00/gal, most people still pay more in Fed taxes than fuel costs. The big worry is the price of diesel, which drives our economy, and moves much more directly with the world price of oil.
This is why we should be punching holes offshore and in ANWR.
You make signs, for southern states, right?
Wah. Lots of oil off the coast of California. Drill for it if you don’t want to pay the import price, if not STFU.
LOL!
Here's another vote for California to STFU!
I suspect you are right it will be up by this evening. Thursday is the usual ‘spike day’ price wise with gas from what I’ve heard and witnessed.
‘Upstate NY. lowest I’ve seen is around $3.17. Last November it was about $2.35.’
We have family up in Renson(?). When we visited in June of this year, I was charged ten bucks for two packs of smokes....(shakes head).
No surprise at your fuel costs.
Yeah this state is S.O.L. when we all decide to quit smoking.
Ohio is in the same predictament. I’m wearing a patch right now, actually.
bout the 26,143 time I’ve tried to quit....(chuckle)
You must be on the 10 year plan. At least you can say you've cut back.
$5? I paid $3.21 in San Diego yesterday morning.
Must be because demand is up so much over a few weeks ago. Either that or a couple of high-producing wells just went dry. It HAS to be something in the supply-demand chain, because gasoline is just another free-market commodity, you know.
Environmentalism says, "No more drilling."
Environmentalism says, "No new refineries."
Environmentalism says, "Make 57 varieties for sale in fractional markets all over the country."
And environmentalism COSTS US BANK!
Still, we're not out there with scythes and pitchforks tarring and feathering environmentalists, so I guess we must ENJOY this great exercise in economic self-flagellation, eh??
Maybe not you or I, but enough damned fools are happy about it all that mustering the impetus for constructive change has been ongoing for 35 years, and there STILL isn't enough force behind it to support Washington D.C. rescuing the economy by overtly telling the environmentalist whackjobs to go screw themselves.
Ahh, well; next universe, maybe.
Back to the topic...gas around San Antonio is now running about $2.99/gal, up from $2.75 a couple of days ago when I filled up my truck. I'm thankful hubby gets a truck allowance on his job, his truck is older and therefore eats more gas.
I clearly remember bushies saying we'll have $15 crude after this. Didn't work out that way.
I want my 60mpg Honda Accord diesel noooooowww....
Democrat Jor Liberman introduces bill to "protect" ANWR from oil drilling forever!
When the barrel price spiked at about $80.00(about three-weeks ago),I remember hearing The Opec Oil Minister(radio report)say not to worry, this won’t last!I said(to myself)”Yeah,Right,It Will be $100.00 In No Time”!Well, here we are!!When are The DemonRats going to be made to PAY(ballot box)for what they have brought down on us?????
