Nicolas Sarkozy, the aggressively pro-American president of France, has spent two days charming President Bush, but he also has his eye out for the end of the current administration. Between a frenetic round of appearances today in Washington, Sarkozy found 15 minutes to place a call to Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-N.Y.), the front-runner for the Democratic nomination.

IMHO this sounds like total BS to me.

Why would Sarko interfere with the American Electoral process? He is far too smart for a move like that.

This was leaked, because she is apparently one of the last people he called (if he did). Sooner or later, some pundit was going to point out that he had called everyone, even 2nd tier candidates, except Monica Lewinski’s boyfriend’s wife.

So, whether he did or not, Hillary!’s minions are letting out that he did, so she wouldn’t look like such a lame loser.

And a fifteen minute call is nothing. It’s not like they talked policy. He knows what she’s all about.

Sounds like a giant load of BS -- and the "source, friendly to Clinton" could be some partisan media shill or other paid bootlicker. But if true, whom did he call on the Pubbie side? Obviously he wouldn't be so imprudent to deal only with one political party if the story is true. At best it means that Hillary had something leaked because she's an attention whore who's looking for a way to salvage her nomination.
