Pat Robertson endorses Giuliani
The Politico ^ | November 7, 2007 | Mike Allen

Posted on 11/07/2007 5:51:19 AM PST by rightwingintelligentsia

Pat Robertson, one of the nation's most influential Christian leaders, plans to endorse former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani today, the Politico has learned.

Giuliani has struggled to win support of social conservatives because of his moderate views on abortion and gay rights. But now he has one of the most resonant imprimaturs with Christian voters.

Sen. Sam Brownback (R-Kan.), meanwhile, plans to announce his surprise endorsement of former Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) for president on Wednesday, a campaign official told Politico.

The endorsement is to be announced in Dubuque, Iowa.

The alliance gives McCain — once a front-runner, now struggling — a crucial bridge to social conservatives, an important constituency that has remained suspicious of him despite his opposition to abortion.

Oh I see. So its better to sell your soul to the devil than to stand by your convictions? No sale.

If Hillary ends up in the White House, it won't be the fault of the 'ilk' that had the guts to stand by our convictions, it will be the fools that settled for a candidate who had the alleged best chance to beat Hillary.

It will be YOUR fault. Not ours.

So if Billy Graham says vote Hillry then you would follow him? Billy Graham did have the Clintons, both of them up on his stage proclaiming all kind of niceties about them at one of his 'come to Jesus' revivals.

Personally I don't see Rev. Graham ever endorsing Hillary. He has spent time with many Presidents over the years so don't just hone in on the Clinton's. That would be misleading. I would listen to what he says, but no, I follow my own inner feelings. I'm sure Rev. Graham was hoping the Word of the Lord would stick on the Clinton's.

Politics aside, Billy Graham has done more to spread the word of God than Pat Robertson ever did. As a Christian I hold Billy Graham in higher regard than Pat Robertson.

I don’t think Pat has as much influence as the NY media think he does. I mean, they think Pat controls us or something.

I am interested in who James Dobson endorses.

Seriously though, I’ll support whoever the GOP nominates. And I won’t be sore about it, because I think politics is ultimately stupid. Any Republican is better than Klinton.

I couldn't agree with you more!

How about Brownback? What a phony numbskull. He’s no more “a bridge to evangelicals” than my pet poodle is.

There are enough of us out here to beat Rudy. We'll either beat him in the primaries or we'll beat him in the general election, but we WILL beat him.

NOTHING would be worse for this country than the election of Rudy Giuliani.

Pat Robertson’s TV show has three times as many viewers as Dobson’s. And Pat will be plugging Rudy on an almost daily basis.

The importance of this endorsement is immense.

Standing by your convictions is going to get you a Supreme Court that is going to undermine the causes you claim to be fighting for for another 2 generations.

If that is what you call fighting for your convictions, you might as well be French, because all you are doing is ensuring your own defeat. And yes, it will indeed be YOUR fault.

You either get the R nomination to be the person you want, if you fail you support the R nomination or you aid in getting the D. Its that simple... your convictions will get another 1.2 BILLION children murdered over the next 40 years... if that’s what you believe is a victory for your cause, then you are beyond stuck on stupid.

Staunch Conservatism will NOT go away, and it will not be redefined (sorry Rush) no matter who is the President for the next four to eight years.

However, I believe that if it came down to Rudy or Hillary, the preservation of conservatism as a political force in America stands a much better chance of surviving a Giuliani presidency than a Clinton co-presidency.

The Clintons will EVISCERATE the electoral process. What do you think the thrust for drivers licenses for illegals is for? The thrust of the “felons may vote” movement? The thrust to circumvent the Electoral College? Socialized medicine?

All designed to bar the White House from conservatives for generations to come, or as long as this country may survive as a Democratic Republic.

Staying home is not making a statement, imho, it is mass suicide for Conservatism. We CAN return to true conservatism after a Giuliani presidency - especially if his running mate is a Duncan Hunter type.

Not so any other way, I fear. Beat Rudy in the primaries, please. But do not let the White House fall into the clutches of the Clintons.

Where are you Fred Thompson!?! Why are you allowing yourself to be marginalized? Stand up and speak out!

From the comments after the article:

“Reverend Pat Robertson is either senile or selling out (or possibly both!) This is unbelievable!

Former Senator Fred Thompson is the only candidate that gets it. He makes decisions based on principles. Principles don’t change. You have to stand for something and not change who you are based on the polls. That is what Mitt Romney and Rudy Giuliani have done and all of the Democrats do it. Give me a leader that will stand by his principles anyday versus someone that stands for everything.

I know many Republicans and conservatives that will stay home if Rudy Giuliani is the candidate. He does not represent our values as conservatives, and never will. Mitt Romney is a Republican-in-name-only (RINO) that simply has everything else and nothing to do. “I guess I’ll just try to buy the presidency”. The White House isn’t for sale! He has flip-flopped on almost every issue in the last few years! Conservatives will simply stay home and the Democrats will pick up additional seats in the House and probably get the 60 seats in the Senate they need to completely destroy our country-nice picture huh?

However, I think Fred can bring America back together, if that’s even possible. America needs a rebirth of patriotism and honor. Republicans also need a rebirth. President Reagan was our last rebirth and he can never be duplicated. Fred Thompson will bring his own down-to-earth common sense to this country.. A little of the good old days of faith, federalism and family would do well for this country. If a conservative runs as a conservative, he will win!

Think of it this way: Eight years of another Clinton White House? Now if that is not a sufficient enough reason to pull together as a nation, and fight this socialist liberal takeover of our government, what is?

Folks, we are in for the fight of our lives, just as our young men and women are fighting for our freedoms in Iraq and Afghanistan, we must fight for our nation right here and now! I truly believe Fred Thompson is the one man who can pull this nation back together! Rudy Giuliani will just tear us apart.”

“NOTHING would be worse for this country than the election of Rudy Giuliani.”

Bull... Election of Hitlery Clinton would be infinitely worse.

Work for whoever in the Primaries, however if the guy you don’t like gets the Primary you still support them in the General. If you don’t you aid Hitlery and as much as you may dislike this R or that R, I guarantee you, Hitlery would be far far worse thing to happen to this country than any of the R candidates.

Her husband sold this nation down the tubes for 8 years, ignored the growing threat of Fundamentalist Islam etc we still have 20 years to just recover from the damage he did, and Bubba was just a narcicist. Hitlery is the ideologue, she’ll be many times worse than Bubba.

Pat Robertson is one heck of a good businessman..

Here's hoping he just made his first really serious mistake in that business. Now, I don't hang out with anybody who gives money to TV preachers, but maybe some of you do out there. You need to shame them into stop funding this senile old coot's business venture masquerading as religion.

No, a Robertson endorsement isn't worth a bucket of spit to a true social conservative, but watch the leftwing media use this as an excuse for the sheeple to nominate Rooty. They know damn good and well that Hillary cannot win unless she's up against dispirited conservatives who would vote for neither pro-abort candidate. It's like the media ignoring Catholic cardinals when they talk about abortion, yet trot them out as moral leaders when they called for unilateral nuclear disarmament.

Well said.
I’m still trying to figure out how Hillary putting in the oval office putting pro-death judges on the bench helps end Roe v Wade.

I won't ever be voting for her, either, but the fact is that Hillary is more a man than Julie Annie will ever be. She's much tougher than than Rudy.

Rudy is just a draft dodging, cross-dressing pervert. He doesn't have enough personal strength, integrity or character to hold a family together. And you want to turn a nation over to him?

I am speaking about Rudy and Rudy only.

Do you honestly believe he would appoint judges who would interpret law? Or overturn Roe v Wade? Or protect your second amendment rights?

Do you honestly believe he would do anything to secure the border given his stance on illegal immigration?

Do you honestly believe he would support overturning Roe v Wade, given the fact he said he would take his own daughter to have an abortion? Seems to me YOUR fear will only lead to another President who doesn't have the balls to protect the unborn. So it sounds like you're the one who's stuck on stupid. And don't give me the same old fear factor crap that all Rudy supporters are spouting.

Indeed, Robertson sold TBN some years ago and made a pile of money, in the hundreds of millions of dollars and it became FX I think...

When they run telethons I can only shake my head in wonderment at the level of perniciousness that is on display.

I don’t mind Pat Robertson endorsing Jules, I do mind that at one time Robertson was something good, now he is merely a businessman looking to make a profit on fellow believer’s good intentions.

His moral authority is now dilluted even after starting the ACLJ...
