Hillary's Mystery Woman: Who is Huma?
Senator Clinton's closest aide, Ms. Abedin never sweats; Oscar de la Renta wants to dress her

"It was like 110 degrees outside," recalled the source, a political aide who asked to remain anonymous. "We were all just pouring down with sweat. But I have this distinct memory of Huma traipsing in in this blue pantsuit—it was like this wool pantsuit—not a bead of sweat on her brow, not a hair out of place, with everything perfectly organized in her Yves Saint Laurent handbag."
...The back story, as it were, begins 32 years ago in Kalamazoo, Mich., where Ms. Abedin, who declined to participate in this article, lived until the age of 2. Her family then relocated to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, where she lived until returning to the States for college. She attended George Washington University. Her father, who died when she was 17, was an Islamic and Middle Eastern scholar of Indian decent. He founded his own institute devoted to Western-Eastern and interfaith understanding and reconciliation and published a journal focusing on Muslim minorities living in the diaspora. Her mother, a renowned professor in Saudi Arabia, is Pakistani.
Ms. Abedin recently bought an apartment in the vicinity of 12th and U streets in Washington, D.C. ...
Ms. Abedin began working for Mrs. Clinton as an intern for the then First Lady in 1996. She was hired as a staff assistant to the First Lady's chief of staff, Maggie Williams. For several years, she was the backup to Mrs. Clinton's permanent personal aide, Allison Stein, and she officially took over as Mrs. Clinton's aide and advisor around the time of the 2000 Senate race.
Her Presidential campaign title is "traveling chief of staff"...
According to a friend, her favorite designers are Mr. de la Renta, Catherine Malandrino, Charles Nolan and Prada. "And she has a weakness for Marc Jacobs bags," said the friend. "She is known for her bags."
Robert Barnett, the Clintons' longtime attorney, said that in 11 years of knowing her, he has never seen her wear the same outfit twice...
Huma Abedin's father died, about 15 years ago, when Huma Abedin was 17.
Huma Abedin's mother seems to be referred to, variously, as "Saleha Abedin", "Saleha Mahmood Abedin", "Saleha S. Mahmood Abedin", and "Saleha S. Mahmood".
She is believed to be employed as a Sociology Professor at Dar Al-Hekma Women's College, in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, and it appears that she now holds the position of the Director of the Institute for Muslim Minority Affairs, which was founded by her late husband:

Huma Abedin's father was born in India, her mother was born in Pakistan, they wound up in Kalamazoo, Michigan, and then suddenly they turned on a dime, when Huma was about 2 years old, and headed to Saudi Arabia.

The election of 2008 will be a true test if a presidential election can be bought by a third or forth rate candidate backed by enough special interest money.
The amount of money we know about going into Hillary’s two year campaign is outrageous.

Now the DC condo is a very different question. While she could have gotten an exotic mortgage with interest only or something like that, she still would have had to make a substantial downpayment for it. I think the most likely explanation is that Hillary gave her the cash. Nothing illegal about it as long as she paid taxes on the income.
Also a good possibility is that Hillary has arranged some nice investments for Huma with her hedge-fund pals including Ron Rosenbaum, Norman Hsu, and Mark Lasky, the guy Chelsea works for.
Thanks for trying to find the answer to that question. I have been concerned about the answer since I first read the article about this amazing woman, that according to those interviewed for the article.
My concern of course is a Muslim being situated in the top office of our government if Hillary becomes president.

And yes, it’s my understanding that a check for 10k and up is reported to the IRS by the bank. Still, why would they not want this reported to the IRS? It isn’t as though Huma is hiding.
If someone gifted her the money for the condo, then, with a top marginal tax rate of about 35%, for her to have cleared [after taxes] the $649,000 needed for the condo, the gift would have had to have been roughly:
I.e. if this was done on the up & up [at least as far as the IRS is concerned], then someone had to slip her a cool $1 MILLION!!![0.65] X GIFT = $649,000 GIFT = [$649,000] / [0.65] GIFT = $998,461.54
You know, the IRS is supposed to have software which goes bananas and which sets off all kinds of alarms if it detects that people are living way beyond their means like this.
And, no - college professors in the humanities & the social sciences do NOT leave million-dollar inheritances to their children.
If so, then all of their gifts have to be reported to the IRS.
