Guests to be interviewed today on major television talk shows:
FOX NEWS SUNDAY (Fox Network): Former President George H.W. Bush.
MEET THE PRESS (NBC): Former Sen. Fred Thompson, R-Tenn.
FACE THE NATION (CBS): Sen. Joe Biden, D-Del., Mark Penn, chief strategist for Sen. Hillary Clinton campaign.
THIS WEEK (ABC): Former Sen. John Edwards, D-N.C.
LATE EDITION (CNN) : Mideast peace envoy and former British Prime Minister Tony Blair; Sens. John McCain, R-Ariz., Chris Dodd, D-Conn., Arlen Specter, R-Pa., and Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif.
Now, imagine, if you will, when Fred peels the reptilian skin off of Hillary in the Presidential debates, then eviscerates her, employing his slow, southern style. {And he refuses to apologize for having done so the next day.}
I am referring mainly to a couple of interviews in which he did not enthuse me. His views were solid enough but he seemed to mumble and visually he did not seem the media type product that is needed in modern elections.
I maybe totally wrong and he may appeal to the American people nation wide and he may well beat Hilary and as I have said if he gets the nomination I pray (and I am not blaspheming here) that he will beat her.
The most important issue as I see it is how to defeat Hillary.
“The only single issue I worry about is keeping her highness out of office.”
Fine. But if I have to choose I’m not going to pick Fred.
And his answer is disturbing to a party craving for a “solid conservative” candidate. He looked terrible on abortion this morning, to someone like me who wants to end abortion. Even his federal answer was unsatisfying because he didn’t leave it at that but went on the poo-poo states making abortion criminal. That’s how I read it.
Not a single issue voter, to be clear.
America is at risk from illegal immigration and terrorists.
Thompson did very well.
Well, you are wrong. snugs wants the Republican to win. She is giving us her unvarnished impressions. You can't stand to hear anything not entirely positive about YOUR chosen candidate...which is pretty much what has been going on on this site for months now. Someone doesn't see thing your way, attack, attack, attack. It has become mindless, tiresome and annoying.
Hang in there, snugs, they even pick on me sometimes!
Agreed. If Kennedy had served two normal terms Johnson would never have been elected to succeed him.
Howdy snugs. How Y’all?
Hunter has no chance. I like his ideas but he has the charisma of a turnup. Thompson does have that down home feel that may or may not catch on.
Bottom line, people give far too much credit to Harpy clinton. She is a poor politician and will have to run away from any serious questions. How could she not get asked about Hsu at the debate??
Pray for W and Our Troops
Evidently the 12 minute video was put up on Google and was number one until the took it down!!
I knew he was a federalist on abortion but his answer perplexed me. It was like sitting there in amazement wathcing demolition derby. A lot of pro-lifers are gonna be scratching there heads just like me, saying this is not the conservative we want.
Let’s hope it stays that way...
As someone with personal experience with melanoma, you are not cured. McCain must be examined regularly for the rest of his life to check and see if another questionable lesion returns anywhere on his body.
I trust you heard Thompson's response on his physical condition on MTP. Do you really believe he would run for President if he believed that the possibility of not surviving his first term due to his illness was a real question? And don't you think that he would have access to the best level of care as President?
One last question, what percentage of voters know about Freds cancer? Also do you think this info will change any general election voters minds?
What I object to is using the "C" word to torpedo a political candidate. You can bet the Hillary campaign, indirectly, will try to use it against Fred, Rudy, or McCain should they be nominated. The problem is that some voters may very well change their mind depending upon how the issue is played. Frankly, the average voter is not well-informed or knowledgeable about a lot of things. That said, it is not going to affect my vote.
Why don’t you take a deep breath, or two? Where have I “attacked” snugs? Why is your little crowd so touchy? I simply pointed out that it’s clear that she’s no Thompson supporter. What’s wrong with that? Or is there an unwritten rule at this site that one can only post to snugs if one is agreeing with her?
Try to develop a little thicker skin.
Wow you are new here.
I forgot to add that Bill Clinton never did release all of his medical records.
have a great day and coming week.
thanks for all you do and stand for.
Clara Lou, you bring your nastiness to this thread and tell me to take a deap breath. Ptui!
I am done with you.
Absolutely correct!!
My support will be for the person who can do that I sincerely hope Fred can and if he wins the nomination my prayers will certainly be that he does beat Hilary.
As for supporting "other candidate" I suspect you are referring to Rudy. Whilst I may agree with some of stance I believe he has too much baggage to carry the nomination once again I maybe wrong. If you really pushed me for a preference on who I would like to get the nomination then probably I go for Mit Romney on likability and presentation and who I feel would appeal to the electorate the best but the candidate that probably reflects my views and who I personally like the best is Duncan Hunter.
