Why Duncan Hunter needs to be our Next President

I am publicly stating who I support for the 2008 Republican nominee for President, California Representative, Duncan Hunter. Why? The reasons are many but the primary underlying reason is, he better than any other candidate, be they Republican or Democrat, at understand the world landscape both economically and politically. His over all goal is a stronger more protected America.

Hunter, more than any other name on the ballot, is a student of history, not just recent history, he, as they say, sees the big picture. Unlike politicians of the past who have given away the American Dream as a good faith gesture to the world, Hunter wants to protect what is ours. On a regular basis, we always seems to be the ones extending the olive branch to the world only to have it stepped on.

In recent weeks he has spoken out harshly about the Law of the Sea Treaty (LOST) as it gives US sovereignty of the sea to (gulp) the UN. Hunter stated that:

“It is imperative that our nation does not surrender decision making power for military navigation or resource extraction, especially in this age of terrorism with technology and weapons proliferation. And adding a new set of UN bureaucrats with license to tax and adjudicate disputes is the last thing this country needs.” … ”Rest assured no treaty that infringes on the sovereignty of the United States, or further empowers the United Nations, will get anything but a trip to the waste basket in a Hunter Administration.”

See what I mean? This guy “gets it”!

He is the only candidate who consistently sees China as someone we should be cautious of, while everyone else sees China as a former Communist nation on the brink of democracy. Other see their exploding market as a potential for American big business to blossom, while Hunter sees the same thing, he is thinking of America first, the business executives second.

Just today he released a press release in which he publicly calls on Mitt Romney, founder of Bain Capital and Republican presidential candidate, to put an end to a business deal with a Chinese company who is negociating for the acquisition of US defense conractor 3COM. The kicker here is that the founder of this company is an officer of the Peoples Liberation Army of Communist China and is being accused of providing Saddam Hussein with the technology to target US aircraft and helping the Taliban develop surveillance equipment.

Hunter said to Romney in writing;

“I am extremely concerned that Governor Romney’s company would tout a highly suspect Chinese corporation as a strategic partner,” stated Hunter. “Forming a business partnership with a corporation known to have direct ties with terrorists and dictators while, at the same time, openly seeking to acquire a major U.S. corporation that performs vital cyber security work for the Department of Defense, can only be characterized as irresponsible.”

What other candidate would step out and do the right thing like this? Duncan Hunter does his homework, that is what will make him a very effective POTUS. This wasn’t a political ploy, this was Hunter looking out for America, for you and me.

The more you read about him, the more, I am sure, you will realize that he sees things the way most Amiercans do.

That 63 million was spread over quite a few years so in the world of Military R&D it’s a mere pittance. That’s the world of R&D, sometimes it doesn’t work. What the Navy does and doesn’t want is not always what is best. The brass at the pentagon say a lot of things. I take it all on a case by case basis.

>The bottom line is that Hunter is a second tier candidate. I will vote for the GOP nominee.<

Typical Blonde! In order that he IS the nominee, you vote for him IN the primaries. Then he WILL BE the nominee, and you can VOTE for him in the general. Now do you get it? :)

Or do you intend to vote for whomever the Establishment shoves down your throat?

Thank you for this post!

I, as all Americans should be, concerned about the future for our children and grandchildren. The problems will not be easily solved. I have surveyed the field and recognize and realize that Mr. Duncan Hunter is the only person I can support in this race for President.

I crossed McCain off my list a long time ago.
Rudy is not a Conservative. Crossed off Rudy.
Mitt thinks America should emulate Hamas. Mitt is a liberal. Cross off Mitt.

Then there is Fred. I like Fred, I am listening to Fred, but Fred is a Johnny come Lately. When Fred could have taken out the Clintons on Chinagate, Fred didn't. When Fred could have done something to truly help this nation, while he was in the Senate on illegal immigration, he didn't. What more can I say about Fred....He didn't live up to expectations. America cannot afford people, in federal office, especially the Presidency to no longer live up to expectations.

Mr. Duncan Hunter has been a fighter and warrior, in every sense of the words, during his tenure in the House. His past reflects what Mr. Hunter will do FOR America in the future. The Past is always a reflection of what the future holds, and what a given individual will do. For this reason alone, Mr. Hunter's past efforts for America compel me to support the Man.

Join us....Join a Man.....Join the Hunter's Rangers....I can honestly say, There will be no surprises from this Man! Mr. Hunter will be another President in the image of Former President Ronald Reagan. Another Man (Mr. Hunter), Americans are proud of.

I don’t recall ever having harassed you? The article wasn’t “harassing” as far as I can tell? The obvious question here is, “what are you talking about?”. Either I have missed something here, or you have blown a headpipe somewhere along the way.

if you don't think you're right about something, what's the point of offering your opinion in the first place
There's no basis for your statement that others are compromising their principles because they don't support Hunter. That's an arrogant remark. Arrogance is not your friend, and lends you no credibility.

I admire your passion. If I could wave a magic wand, Duncan Hunter would be our next president. But I'm a pragmatist.

"Pragmatist" is another way of saying, "I'm willing to sell-out my principles to help someone who doesn't share my principles to win." Personally, I don't see how that's pragmatic at all. It strikes me as frighteningly stupid--the words of someone who's holding the deed to the Brooklyn Bridge.

You would be foolish to throw your vote away once the Republican candidate is selected. Otherwise, you'll be helping the Dems gain control of the oval office. Any of the first tier candidates would be preferable to a Dem.

Really? So it would be better to elect a Republican who's going to act like a Democrat than the genuine article? LOL. After 8 years of Christie Whitman in NJ, I know what happens when conservatives help a liberal Republican get elected. They effectively hand their party over to liberals and put themselves on the political sidelines FOREVER.

No thanks. I don't vote for liberals, regardless of what party they're running for. If you're willing to vote for a liberal Republican out of fear of getting something "worse" in the Democrat, you are contributing to the New Jersification of the national GOP.

Enjoy the results.

IMO it is foolish to throw away a primary vote on a person that conservatives can not support. Most just aren’t going to vote for a liberal, even if an R is tattooed all over his body.

I gave three choices why people might not want to vote for Hunter. That was only one of them. If that particular one stuck in your craw, maybe you ought to look in the mirror before casting stones at me.

Arrogant like, “I don’t dance to anyone’s tune but my own”? Arrogant like, quipping that “the summer flies are out” instead of just saying, “ I did a little work on the periphery for an abortion group”?

I don’t think anyone intended to be arrogant. I think perhaps we sometimes wrongly assume everyone has the same convictions, principles, ideology and distaste for the media that we do. I will watch the thread closely and if I catch anyone else “believing in their candidate too much” or displaying any rugged individualism or exhibiting any temerity not warranted by a media poll; I will chide them without mercy. This is my pledge to you.

Do you want to elect a RINO like they did Arnold out in CA?

Then vote for one of the alledged top tier candidates.

I thought we really wanted change. If don’t want change go with one of them.

>If the media would stop shoving them down our throats and give fair airtime to Hunter, he could beat the pants off the ‘rats.<

Exactly, sneakers! But with people who buckle to the one world power structure operating in this country, we will soon be a third world nation!

Where are all the other men , strong and true, with the backbone and spirit of 1776 today? Indoctrinated? Demasculated? (I just love to make up words!) Are they all mama’s boys? What will it take to bring them out of their stupor in time to join ranks with the George Washington of our day, DUNCAN LEE HUNTER!

John Kerry was only 3% in the polls before the New Hampshire primary. He ended up with the nomination. You never know what can happen.
