Why Duncan Hunter needs to be our Next President
Marc the Infidel ^ | 11/3/07 | Marc

I am publicly stating who I support for the 2008 Republican nominee for President, California Representative, Duncan Hunter. Why? The reasons are many but the primary underlying reason is, he better than any other candidate, be they Republican or Democrat, at understand the world landscape both economically and politically. His over all goal is a stronger more protected America.

Hunter, more than any other name on the ballot, is a student of history, not just recent history, he, as they say, sees the big picture. Unlike politicians of the past who have given away the American Dream as a good faith gesture to the world, Hunter wants to protect what is ours. On a regular basis, we always seems to be the ones extending the olive branch to the world only to have it stepped on.

In recent weeks he has spoken out harshly about the Law of the Sea Treaty (LOST) as it gives US sovereignty of the sea to (gulp) the UN. Hunter stated that:

“It is imperative that our nation does not surrender decision making power for military navigation or resource extraction, especially in this age of terrorism with technology and weapons proliferation. And adding a new set of UN bureaucrats with license to tax and adjudicate disputes is the last thing this country needs.” … ”Rest assured no treaty that infringes on the sovereignty of the United States, or further empowers the United Nations, will get anything but a trip to the waste basket in a Hunter Administration.”

See what I mean? This guy “gets it”!

He is the only candidate who consistently sees China as someone we should be cautious of, while everyone else sees China as a former Communist nation on the brink of democracy. Other see their exploding market as a potential for American big business to blossom, while Hunter sees the same thing, he is thinking of America first, the business executives second.

Just today he released a press release in which he publicly calls on Mitt Romney, founder of Bain Capital and Republican presidential candidate, to put an end to a business deal with a Chinese company who is negociating for the acquisition of US defense conractor 3COM. The kicker here is that the founder of this company is an officer of the Peoples Liberation Army of Communist China and is being accused of providing Saddam Hussein with the technology to target US aircraft and helping the Taliban develop surveillance equipment.

Hunter said to Romney in writing;

“I am extremely concerned that Governor Romney’s company would tout a highly suspect Chinese corporation as a strategic partner,” stated Hunter. “Forming a business partnership with a corporation known to have direct ties with terrorists and dictators while, at the same time, openly seeking to acquire a major U.S. corporation that performs vital cyber security work for the Department of Defense, can only be characterized as irresponsible.”

What other candidate would step out and do the right thing like this? Duncan Hunter does his homework, that is what will make him a very effective POTUS. This wasn’t a political ploy, this was Hunter looking out for America, for you and me.

The more you read about him, the more, I am sure, you will realize that he sees things the way most Amiercans do.

More properly stated: Why America needs Duncan Hunter as her next President.

It isn't over 'till the fat lady sings.

Some days ago circulating on FR there was an article about Patty “Moron” Murray supporting the Navy building a boat that the Navy didn’t want (I posted it). In the several postings were some references to Duncan Hunter supporting a $63 million plane that doesn’t fly. Now, I like Duncan Hunter but these references concern me especially when I’m telling others to take a look at him since he’s a viable candidate. Do you know of anyone that explain this? See below for the references posted about the airplane:

It’s clear to me that free-thinking, rational, honest conservatives will side with Hunter. Everyone else is either compromising their principles based on the false premise that only a liberal Republican can win, giving their support based on fear, or are simply liberals pretending to be conservatives.

Yes, that has been discussed ad naseum in a couple of older threads. I’ll try to find the links for you when I get time. It’s nonsensical.

Screw the media. They're for the Democrats. I just want someone who can keep the Ass Party out of the White House.

Trouble is, if you elect Rudy McRomney, you're getting the "Ass Party" by default. All three of those guys would be more than happy to work with Ted Kennedy...

"I don’t care what the media says. They don’t pick my candidate. I’ll vote for whoever I wish."

Exactly. The media has already decided who the Republican front-runners are. I'm voting for whomever best represents what I believe in, and who I believe is the best man for the job. That man is Duncan Hunter. The other Republicans do not impress me. If the media would stop shoving them down our throats and give fair airtime to Hunter, he could beat the pants off of the 'rats.

“I’ll vote for whoever I wish.”

Yes, you should. But you used the media created spin of “second tier” in describing Duncan Hunter. No longer will I accept that characterization of Hunter. Not as long as the “first tier” can’t even move beyond the twentysome percentile in polling.

Ah, it must be incredibly satisfying believing so much in your own moral superiority. And in doing so, you put yourself in quite a select group, what with Hunter's poll standing.

I have no objection to Mr. Hunter (other than his poor campaign management). Some of his supporters, though, are laughable.

No problem.

You’re not going to harass people into voting for someone that they’ve already researched and aren’t go to vote for.

>Can you explain this?<

Sure! Anyone who is about to break into high gear in this presidential race is fair game as far as our moderate or worse (RINO) FR members are concerned.

Conservatives offer absolutely no argument that Duncan Hunter is the Statesman they want to occupy 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

You obviously either have little regard for the intelligence of the American people, or you harbor nefarious intentions of keeping a good man down.

I admire your passion. If I could wave a magic wand, Duncan Hunter would be our next president. But I'm a pragmatist. The bottom line is that Hunter is a second tier candidate. I will vote for the GOP nominee.

You would be foolish to throw your vote away once the Republican candidate is selected. Otherwise, you'll be helping the Dems gain control of the oval office. Any of the first tier candidates would be preferable to a Dem.

Poll standing is a media-manipulated perceived reality that I reject.

As for my "moral superiority"--if you don't think you're right about something, what's the point of offering your opinion in the first place. On those issues I'm unsure of, I keep quiet.

I'm sure that Duncan Hunter would make the best president of any of the candidates running, poll standing be d@mned.
