In a rare rebuke, the city's bar association condemned a judge who dismissed rape charges in the alleged gang rape of a prostitute and instead called it a theft of services.
The prostitute admitted going to a home on Sept. 20 to have paid sex with a customer but said she was instead gang-raped by four men, including the customer, while he fixed a gun on her.
Municipal Judge Teresa Carr Deni dropped the rape and sexual-assault charges at an Oct. 4 preliminary hearing, but upheld robbery, false imprisonment and conspiracy charges against Dominique Gindraw.
Deni has since heightened the furor in defending her decision to a newspaper.
''She consented and she didn't get paid,'' Deni told the Philadelphia Daily News. ''I thought it was a robbery.''

Re: This whole thread sickens me. I cannot believe people in today’s age actually have no issue with a woman being raped. And it disgusts me even more when I read posts that say the victim wasn’t even human. If this thread represents the face of conservatism, then conservatism is doomed to the dust bin of history.

No. You are missing the point. Only a sick bastard like you thinksit’s OK to rape anyone, even hookers. I cannot believe you think rape is OK. How many hookers have you raped?
Also, the woman was the victim of rape, but the crime is against the state. It does not matter if the victim was a hooker. Non-consensual sex is a crime. If a hooker withdraws her consent, then it’s rape and the perpetrators have committed a crime against the state. If people want to get stupid enough to follow this ‘theft of service arguement’, then the hooker needs to go to civil court for damages. But the criminal offense is against the state, not the woman. The judge, like most of the sick, vile posters on this thread, was off her rocker and should be disbarred.
The more I read, the more I see this as robbery. Of course, all robbery is not equal. Some use a knife. Some use a gun. Some use other implements...

My God, man - NO ONE THINKS IT’S OK TO RAPE ANYONE!!! The issue at hand is whether she is simply a ripped-off “storekeeper” or a genuine victim!
Good grief! Another one! Tell that to some of the posters who argue tha husbands should be able to rape their wives. How hard is it for people to get the idea that rape is rape? There is no other distinction to be made. Equating rape to theft is disgusting and I am horrified that anyone would even come up with such an equivocation. That's why this judge needs to lose her job, ASAP.

Did I, at ANY time, show ANY indication that I believed rape was not rape????????????? I did NOT - if you were not completely emotionally wrapped up in the subject, you would be able to see clearly that I was simply trying to break it down into the SIMPLE possibilities - either she was raped, or was not paid and claimed such to be vindictive - you cannot possibly believe that this has never happened - if you do then you are too naive to be debating this subject.

You’re not seriously comparing the actions of a prostitute to that of a taxi driver, are you? Prostitutes are engaging in illegal activities with other law-breakers, the majority of whom are the most undesirable society has to offer.
You are not following the train of thought “logically”, Red; prostitutes have sex for money! Cab drivers do NOT volunteer themselves for robbery.

Cab drivers do this every night by taking fares.
And in your opinion, this means they deserve it if they get robbed or killed.
Logic dictates that rape is ALWAYS rape; unfortunately, you are unable to see this because of your preconceived biases.
