JERUSALEM - The top American diplomat in Jerusalem said Monday that the Bush administration is seeking $400 million in new aid for the Palestinian Authority.

Walles said the administration will ask Congress for $400 million, half of which would be aimed at the private sector and infrastructure. He said $150 million would be earmarked for budget support and $25 million each would go to security and refugees.
The allocation would help counter a huge deficit in the Palestinian budget that followed the Western aid cutoff. Foreign aid covers about half of the Palestinian Authority's operating budget.
Since 1993, when Israeli-Palestinian interim peace accord was signed, the U.S. has given $1.7 billion in aid to the Palestinians, according to the USAid Web site.

So true, forget this State Dept. b.s., we should spend a lot less than $400 million providing a new fleet of CAT ‘dozers for Israel and let them clear a real security frontier..... although the fence does seem to be working rather well, think of how little terrorism there has been from the West Bank since much of the fence was completed. So much for all the fools who said it could never work. Now Israel just needs the cojones to clear out the rocket-launching areas in Gaza......
What last week Bush wanted $500 million to give the Mexican government to fight their drug wars, $29 million to fight aids in Africa, I forgot how many millions he wanted for the little dictator in North Korea. Has this guy ever balanced a checkbook?

As a European, I’m tired of paying money to a irresponsible, terrorist-supporting community whose only definition of freedom and progress is the annihilation of other human beings and nations. I’m not surprised a lot of Americans feel the same way.
