GOLDEN, B.C. Rescuers who helped find a 3-year-old girl alive in the crumpled wreckage of an airplane in the rugged British Columbia mountains say they knew she was OK when she cried for her teddy bear.
The girl, Kate Williams, miraculously survived the crash on Sunday because she was strapped into a child's car seat, said Mike Plonka, a member of Golden's search-and-rescue team.
Her pilot grandfather, Allen D. Williams, 65, and Steven T. Sutton, died in the accident. The plane was found nose down and flipped over in the icy water on the edge of a riverbank.
"What saved her life was being strapped into that car seat," Plonka said Monday.

Amen!!
A miracle!
excerpt:
As they checked the wreckage for survivors, they discovered the girl alive but surrounded by debris in the back of the plane. As the two soldiers removed her from the wreckage, she made it clear she didn’t want to leave without her teddy bear.
“I got her out and I handed her to Bruno. She was calling out for her teddy bear. I picked up the teddy bear to give it to her but ... she wasn’t too happy that it was covered in snow so I brushed it off,” Elliston said.
What kind of car seat was it?
10-1 it was American Made, god bless her.
Thanks for posting the photo.
I’m wondering too! I mean GEEZ could you imagine the marketing opportunity?
I just hope the little girl is closing to 3 than 4 — maybe she’ll be spared the conscious memories of the plane going down, and losing her granddad. I know very little about planes, so I’m curious as to how far back she was away from the pilots.
Make all the seats in the aircraft ... (wait for it) ... Child Seats!
Don’t forget ‘BABY’! Thank God for this miracle.
Way back when there was only one car seat that was approved for A/C use...we bought one for our daughter. It was marked etc. Had to prove it to more than one airline. Later any DOT approved car seat was considered A/C worthy.
It looks like the poor little thing took quite a hit to her face. Maybe she won't remember any of it.
Can you imagine trying to get her back into an airplane?
What a miracle. I say, Give that child her teddy bear!
Sweet. Thanks for the excerpt.
make the planes out of black box material.
Ping.
