Hillary Clinton's Presidential ambitions suffered a setback last night with the claim that she knew Bill Clinton was unfaithful long before his seduction of Monica Lewinsky.

The only aspect of the sex scandal that is said to have surprised his wife was that his relationship with the White House intern lasted so long.

And she was furious that he used the Oval Office for his liaisons, according to a new book by Sally Bedell Smith, one of America's most respected biographers.

Ms Bedell Smith says in For Love Of Politics that Hillary's reaction on learning that Bill's sex sessions took place at their official residence was that her husband 'couldn't be that insane'.

The author also claims Hillary tolerated Bill's womanising – and helped to cover it up – because she believed her slick husband was essential to her own political ambitions.

Mrs Clinton could not be reached for comment.

There was speculation that the claims would help Barack Obama, her closest rival for the Democratic nomination.

Chelsea should get an acting award for pretending to feel affectionate towards her mother. I think it was Richard Nixon who commented on the genuine affection between Bill and Chelsea, and the lack thereof (as far as he could tell) between Chelsea and her mother.

Yes, that’s their real understanding. That you do get for 2 for 1. Hillary has wanted to be President since the 1960s and she realized at some point, marrying the right guy was the ticket to the White House. Whatever else you can say about her, that was the one decision she made that’s helped her get all the way to where she is now.

You are probably right, but the question that nags me is “how would she be certain” that klintoon was destined to be POTUS? Makes one consider ESP or whatever.
