Poll: Romney grows lead in NH

A new poll of New Hampshire Republicans shows Mitt Romney is gaining ground on his Republican rivals.

A Rasmussen Poll released today shows Romney grew his lead from 3 percentage points to 9 percentage points in a month over his nearest opponent, Rudy Giuliani.

Romney now has 28 percent support compared to Giuliani with 19 percent and John McCain with 16 percent. Mike Huckabee creeps into double digits with 10 points and Fred Thompson lags with 6 percent.

I am making a list of FReepers that are backing liberals and a kook.

Count me as one of those staunch Freeper conservatives who is backing Romney.

And yes, please do save the links so you can remind us of our rationality and rightness in supporting the most effective, family supporting, value oriented, business-friendly, pro-Life, telegenic and charasmatic candidate the GOP has run since.... since Ronald Reagan.

Please encourage your local Romney field manager to compile a list of local Ministers who have felt led in their spirit to help Mitt.

The pastor at my very patriotic and conservative 'Pentacostal' church has already had good things to say about Romney.

He loves GWB, and in fact Laura Bush has visited our church in recent years.

Also, my church has 'honor the US military and veterans' dedication services about three times a year.

At those services, we have every member or former member of each branch of service, Marines, Army, Air Force, and Navy, and Coast Guard -- stand up as they play the corrosponding theme songs.

I get goose bumps each time "From the Halls of Montezuma, to the shores of Tripoli" plays.

And the best thing is that people come from miles around just to attend my church those weeks.

Yes, Romney will get good support from the congregation at my church, I'm sure.

I am making a list of FReepers that are backing liberals and a kook. When this election is over and they are claiming to be staunch Conservatives... I am going to share some historic FR links with some of them.

Did you vote for Bush in '00 or '04? If so, maybe I'll put you down in my book of people backing candidates who support amnesty, big government, and betrayal of our sovereignty.

Bush is a big time liberal on some issues, that doesn't mean making a pragmatic decision to support him against the even worse Democrat candidate is something to be blacklisted for.

Yes I did vote for W... and he was not for gay marriage... abortion or Gun Control either time. That is the bottom line... I have been disappointed in spending, Amnesty and new tone... I think that I hate new tone almost as much as amnesty... almost... but like I said, I have these three as a Trinity that I will not compromise on. I want what Duncan Hunter and Fred Thompson want... the strongest Military in the world and a War on islamo-facists using ALL of it... secure fenced borders... a limited federal government... capitalist economy... fair trade... States Rights... strong Military Support... whatever they need... and Representatives that we can trust without doubt and that will fight the dims like the dims fight us.

Best news is Rudy dropping.
The Thompson sharp drop is a bit shocking, maybe an outlier.

I am supportive of Hunter, Romney and Thompson.
The order? Depends on my moods. But one of those 3 will be the nominee and I will be backing him.

Based on today’s poll, it looks like Romney has the best chance.

>>>>
New Hampsire, Massachusetts, Vermont...
those almost GOP-free states seem like Romney’s natural constituency.<<<

You don’t know much about New Hampshire, do you?

New Hampshire actually has one of the lowest tax burdens on businesses in the nation. They’re not at all grouped with Mass and Vermont in that regard.

>>>Now I did not say you were not a true Conservative... but I will say that I think you are misguided. I also saw two threads yesterday where mitt came out as pro Assault Weapons ban. That is one of my Holy Trinity issues<<<

Well then you can perhaps understand why someone such as myself who sees the issue of tort reform as a “Holy Trinity” issue takes no interest in Fred Thompson whatsoever.

If Thompson’s against tort reform, I’m against Thompson.

I can’t say his social positions thrill me much, either.

How do you feel about Mitt embracing the AWB (assault weapons ban)? If you believe in the Second Amendment then you cannot possibly support this man. Tort reform is important... but up against killing babies and fags marrying and our Constitutional Rights that are actually written into the document and not legislated from the bench out of pure air... no thanks.

A Rasmussen Poll released today shows Romney grew his lead

I'm happy with the news, but that particular misuse of the word "grow" ticks me off.

What kind of fertilizer is he using? I'm betting the soil in which it is growing must be good.

It makes more sense to fight the AWB within the Republican Party, in a manner similar to the ousting of Mel Martinez, than to support a candidate that will not win in the general election. If you are thinking of supporting Thompson, please reconsider. Even on his best day campaigning, he looks worse than Bob Dole. Did you like campaigning for Bob Dole? What was it, about losing to a charismatic moderate Democrat that you enjoyed?

I may have you at a serious disadvantage. I have seen Fred T. campaign up close and in comparison to the other first tier. He is not impressive.

When the Clinton media machine gets amped up in the general election, they will run rings around Fred, just like John Glenn did in Senate hearings, but worse.

You are welcome to your opinion. You might be interested to know that someone once tried to get me to abandon Reagan too. Bob Dole is still twice the man that rootie or mitt is... he was not a Presidential contender... but he was an honest American War Hero. Bob deserves far better treatment for what he has given to this nation that being used as a political punching bag. BTW, you are the fifth person in two days that has used that talking point... verbatim.

I will NEVER vote for rootie or mitt. You people refuse to listen to us... millions of us... and you do so KNOWING what I say is true. You guys try anger, threats, lies and now guilt. You talk as if this is my first rodeo too... man if you only knew. If the beast is elected... it will not be our fault. It's MY party too!

This poll:
http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/election_2008__1/2008_presidential_election/daily_presidential_tracking_poll

“Rudy Giuliani remains precariously atop the pack with support from 20% of Likely Republican Primary Voters nationwide. Fred Thompson is close behind at 19% while John McCain enjoys a second straight day in third place with 14% of the vote. Huckabee continues to gain ground and is just two points behind McCain at 12%. This is the first time all year that Huckabee has surpassed Mitt Romney. The former Massachusetts Governor slipped another point and he is now at just 11% nationally.”
