How do you feel about Mitt embracing the AWB (assault weapons ban)? If you believe in the Second Amendment then you cannot possibly support this man. Tort reform is important... but up against killing babies and fags marrying and our Constitutional Rights that are actually written into the document and not legislated from the bench out of pure air... no thanks.

It makes more sense to fight the AWB within the Republican Party, in a manner similar to the ousting of Mel Martinez, than to support a candidate that will not win in the general election. If you are thinking of supporting Thompson, please reconsider. Even on his best day campaigning, he looks worse than Bob Dole. Did you like campaigning for Bob Dole? What was it, about losing to a charismatic moderate Democrat that you enjoyed?

I may have you at a serious disadvantage. I have seen Fred T. campaign up close and in comparison to the other first tier. He is not impressive.

When the Clinton media machine gets amped up in the general election, they will run rings around Fred, just like John Glenn did in Senate hearings, but worse.

I believe in the Second Amendment and so does Mitt Romney.

First, I’m opposed to Romney on that issue. But only very mildly. It’s honestly not a big deal to me one way or the other. I frankly don’t see the need to have assault weapons, anyway. Not that this is a reason to ban them, necessarily.

As for the Second Amendment, the Constitution could have very easily clarified its meaning with but a single addition of “all” or “any.” It didn’t. The courts have always upheld the rights of states to limit the sales of guns deemed of no general purpose in day-to-day use. I’m not a big fan of this stance, but that’s the way it has always been.

I don’t see Romney going gung ho over the issue of assault rifles. I think his biggest interests are the three-legged stool he talks about. He’s a venture capitalist—exactly the kind of profession to take the reigns of the White House and our nation’s budget, if you ask me.

Another reason I prefer Romney to Thompson. Thompson’s response of “So be it,” to a liberal state voting to legalize gay marriage and end traditional marriage was wholly unacceptable to me.
