Thompson Tied for First in National Poll; Giuliani in Free Fall
All American Patriots ^ | October 25, 2007

Posted on 10/26/2007 5:20:32 AM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

While Fred Thompson travels the nation with his message of consistent conservatism and touts his border security and immigration reform proposal, a recent national tracking poll shows that Thompson has pulled into a virtual tie with Rudolph Giuliani. This poll further shows that Giuliani has lost almost a third of his support in the last 12 days.

In a separate Field Poll conducted in California, Giuliani's "support has eroded markedly among the party faithful, setting up the prospect of a shootout in February's primary," wrote the San Francisco Chronicle, dropping 10 points since August.

Earlier this week, a Rasmussen poll showed Giuliani and Thompson both statistically tied with Hillary in a head-to-head matchup in Ohio.

Yes, the way the race is tightening up, the remaining debates should be great fun to watch!

And you are correct about Mitt’s number being 11% for today instead of 10%. My bad. “I plead ‘typo’ your honor.”

It looks like they’re ALL dropping. So where is the support going?

Probably right here...

Rudy Giuliani remains precariously atop the pack with support from 20% of Likely Republican Primary Voters nationwide. Fred Thompson is close behind at 19% while John McCain enjoys a second straight day in third place with 14% of the vote. Huckabee continues to gain ground and is just two points behind McCain at 12%. This is the first time all year that Huckabee has surpassed Mitt Romney. The former Massachusetts Governor slipped another point and he is now at just 11% nationally. No other Republican attracts more than 3% support while 18% are undecided.

"Undecided" is the number three candidate.

I think they want to hear more from the candidates. Most of the 2nd tier are very conservative and will link with Fred when their fav drops. Which they need some serious Come-to-Jesus sessions within the next 45 days. This nation can NOT afford to have the pubies nominate Julie-Annie. The Ron Paul, Tom Tancredo, Duncan Hunter and Alan Keyes support plus 1/3 of the undecided will wrap the game. Apparently Rudith is as low as he is going to go (no pun intended).

Now, the undecided. I said IF they go with an even split. I don't see them hanging with Mitt and Juan does not have near the distance between the election and his sellout to the nation with "comprehensive immigration reform" ie, amnesty. Too much of a hot issue in CA. So, I think that in his group (Republican primary voters) about 2/3 of the undecided will go with Fred. This would result in something like the following just before the primary.

Fred at 34%
Rudy at 22%
Mike at 16%
John at 14%
Mitt at 10%
Othr at 3%

just speculation but given current trends and the second tier drops in a reasonable time frame for their supporters to show up in enough polls to get the numbers right.

I don’t hate Rudy and I would vote for him, but I think Fred will get the nomination and I will be much happier voting for him.

I don’t hate Rudy

I believe there are very few here that "hate" Rudy. He is just not the man for the job.. He was ok as being Mayor of New York city. He needs to stick with that.

No problem.

Like Reagan? I do. Remember how gay friendly he was? Did you have a problem with that? I didn't.

If you mean gays when you say chld molesters, you should realize that a candidate with a heavy anti-gay agenda is toast, no chance of winning. The mainstream electorate is just "gay tolerant", even if you aren't. Yea, I definitely have problems with the gay agenda too, but there's a fine line. The huge majority of voters don't believe Rudy is anywhere close to crossing it.

Pictures of POTIS in drag? That's what I should worry about with the terrorists? Exactly when did you lose your sense of humor?

and I love your elitist remarks about his marriage. You're really a Boston elitist, a North Eastern snob aren't you? aren't you? Come on....

Enjoy Hillary.

Last time I checked, NAMBLA was full of child molesters.

Expecting someone to keep his vows is “elitist”?

Good luck pushing that in the South, where all of us “elitists” live.

Re election already decided. Wasn’t there some mention at one time about not releasing any voting results until all polls at least on the mainland had closed? My blond, senior first choice is for all to be term limited to one four year stint and no election campaigning until 6 months before the primary.

They’ve already sold us all the top 5... The USSR and Nazi Germany had elections too... but really our choices are hardly any different.

When did Rudy march in the NAMBLA parade? I must have missed that.

What's elitist is the reference to trailer trash, and you know it.

Like you, I live in the South and came here years ago from California. Glad to be out of there.

Rudy is the "half a loaf is better than none" that I remember my mom telling me about when I didn't get everything I wanted when I was 5.

Except that Rudy is no part of a loaf if one is looking for a conservative. The analogy doesn't fit.

If we stand on principal that the rest of the electorate does not buy into, we get nothing, we get Hillary. That’s why Rudy is half a loaf.

Maybe in your world it’s “elitist”. In mine, it is a term to describe trashy behavior, regardless of wealth.

“In 1992, during his first run for mayor, Giuliani took part in a homosexual “pride” parade that included a contingent of pedophile activists marching behind a banner for NAMBLA (North American Man/Boy Love Association).” They also were involved in other years.

He could refuse a check from a Muslim after 9/11 to score Brownie points, but saw nothing wrong with glorifying and legitimizing child molesters.

COMPLETE and total lack of honor and integrity.

Well, I really think the "trailer trash" remark is off-putting. And of course he doesn't support Nambla, but I'm not going to follow you and your ilk to eight years of a Hillary presidency. Wake up! Thats by far the greater evil. Our other guys (except maybe McCain) can't win.

You and I will have to agree to disagree.

HE MARCHED WITH THEM.

Only two possible reasons for that. He agrees with them or he was pandering.

He’s supposed to have all these “guts” and be able to stand up to evil. He didn’t.

There was a good article a week or two that showed that if you dig into the "internals" of the other polls and look only at voters most likely to vote in the primary, that their numbers track with Rasmussen's pretty well.

That is probably very true and everyone should know also that most MSM reporting of poll numbers is designed to help you form your opinions rather than accurately measure them.

***Here you go. I’m expecting some changes soon over at Intrade to reflect this freefall for rudy. In the last couple of weeks, Ron Paul and Huckabee have been draining rudy and Fred. It’s a free-for-all compared to some of the numbers you see on the democrat side, where Hildebeast has typically a 55 point lead over her rival.
