HUNTER: You know, they have got to have some creative writers to somehow link these these natural disasters with with troops in Iraq, because, first, we have got thousands of Marines who are available right now at Camp Pendleton.
And you get a 60-mile-an-hour wind, and a lot of brittle sagebrush in front of you, and this this what you might call a perfect storm of wind patterns, and a lot of a lot of heat, and you get these fires moving at an incredible speed across the California sagebrush, you could put the entire U.S. Army in front of them, and you can't stop them. You can mitigate them. You can try to block them at the pass, and you can try to neutralize them and back them down as the conditions improve.
But this has nothing to do with the disbursement of American troops around the world. In fact, at this place, in San Diego, we have got access to more troops, more helicopters, more military equipment than probably anyplace else in the country.
Unfortunately, we got a lot of desert, and we have got hot winds coming off that desert, and we have got we have got real drought conditions that are contributing to this fire.
But, once again, San Diegans are going to come back, and we're going to rebuild, and we're going to be better than ever.
CAVUTO: All right. Congressman, thank you very much Congressman Duncan Hunter in California right now.
HUNTER: Thanks, Neil.
CAVUTO: It makes you wonder. If we weren't in Iraq, I suppose these winds wouldn't have come, these fires wouldn't have started? I don't know.

Did I miss something? Is it customary to send the National Guard out to fight fires?? I thought we had the California Conservation Corps for that.
And unless I’m mistaken....doesn’t Arnie have to ASK the President for the use of the National Guard? And HAS he?

For the Dems it’s all about being a victim. They’re phony Americans.
He did. Unlike that incompetent Demscum in Louisianna (Blanco), he asked early, and GW approved delpoyment early.
Californians have got everything they asked for or needed. The consensus is they were well prepared and have things taken care of by themselves. The Marines have their own fire at Camp Pendleton. Boxer is a Rat trying to make hay out of a tragedy, what’s new. When you have those chaparrals, single digit relative humidity and high winds, there are going to be fires until those conditions change no matter how many firefighters you have on the ground or planes you have in the air.

They're in Wash. DC filing lawsuits to prevent cleanup and rebuilding after the fires. It isn't natural! /s
I still wonder if any of these fires have been started from illegal campfires from illegal aliens walking through California? I understand several of the injured are aliens who got caught in the fire(s).
This is how political parties snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.
I’m not pleased with that horse’s pitoot, Garamendi, either.
17,000 troops are on standby to go into California but under Federal law... arny has to ask.

Rush playing his clips, too.
It's certainly not out of the realm of possibilities.

Also, I've seen many of the Mexican Drug cartel camps with candles all over them, which is a fire just waiting to happen.
