Fox news just reported live that a police helicopter reported seeing an individual setting fires in California. I didn't catch the exact location, nor whether they caught him.
Further they reported that an FBI internal memo has stated that a detainee from some time back had given the FBI information that the "next strike would come in the form of wild fires". However, this memo didn't mention California. It did mention Wyoming, Colorado and Utah. The memo originated in Denver.
I can not locate any other verification of this at this time, but this was reported live on FOX just about 7 minutes ago.
I will back you up
Bump.
Interesting.
Just the right time.
Just the right weather.
Just the right spot(s).
Is this a double possibility?...........
Possible but I would rank it as highly unlikely. The whole point of terrorism is to convince people that you are responsible but that’s hard to do if it’s something easily explained by natural phenomena, bad planning and/or garden-variety vandalism.
You heard it too? I’m not finding any other reports at this time on the FBI memo. However, I know that we have discussed this thing here with the EOCs and such. I work with ham radio operators in the area and was present operating during the Hayman fire here outside of Colorado Springs. I know that a lot of discussions about this sort of thing go on, but I am not really privy to the LE side of things when it comes to official stuff. UNOFFICIALLY I have a lot of friends in the FD and PD here in various jobs and it is a concern in Colorado.
I’m pretty sure the fires are real and not just “possible”...........;-)
Just the right lack of control burns more like. The enviros (leave it “natural”) don’t want to actively manage our wild lands, and the conservatives ($$$) don’t either (though for different reasons).
BTTT!
Probably..................
or his marriage............
Fox ran the story that there was an arrest made yesterday of someone on a motorcycle seen setting fire to one of the areas now engulfed.
Maybe. However, freaks have been setting fires in the socal santa ana winds for years, long before 911. These nutjobs like all the attention and often get a sexual thrill out setting big fires.
Terrorists like to kill a LOT of people when they strike, property damage only would be a very weak attack. I doubt if we will ever know for sure in this case.
Well, sure it could have been a camp fire that escaped too. But, the point is, if you turn a blind eye to the possibility this was real terrorism you do a disservice to those investigating this, and the people who’ve lost homes.
The fact that there are folks who will sit and simply DENY something no matter what just is ridiculous. That’s called a “closed mind”. I certainly don’t know one way or the other, but you’re right. Might have been a pissed off homeowner, camp fire out of control, or it might EVEN be terrorism. All are possibilities, and the PROBABILITY of any of them, including terrorism, are equal.
California Fire Battalion Chief - Whoever Did This Knew What They Were Doing
October 22, 2007
Fire officials are now stating that the Orange County Santiago fire was purposely set and there is speculation that other fires may have also been deliberate. See Interactive Map
Fire officials found three separate points of origin, all near the intersection of Silverado Canyon Road and Santiago Canyon Road. Two were on one side of the road, and the third was on the other. Whoever did this knew what they were doing, said Kris Concepcion, a fire authority battalion chief. Also, the fire traveled 3 miles in its first 20 minutes when it was ignited about 6 p.m. Sunday, he said.

Terrorism, bah - the fires were prolly set by illegals.
I believe there was also some speculation about the Greek fires being of terrorist origin.
