If anyone else wrote this, I may believe it. But Jonathan Alter would hate another Republican administration, so I question his motives in giving us any advice.

“and onetime Baptist minister”

Sorry, but that will keep him from having a chance

The GOP is in a deep hole and keeps digging.

This is drivel. That is just an MSM-inspired meme, the Dems are hardly going to have an easy ride in '08.

"Even on faith and politics, Mike is easy to like. From afar he seemed extreme because he raised his hand in a debate when the candidates were asked en masse if they believed in evolution. But when Bill Maher pressed him to justify that view on his HBO show, Huckabee responded with a nuanced and presentable discussion of the origins of the universe that seemed to pacify even the atheist host. (I found this as well when we discussed the subject some months ago.)"

most of these arguments could have been made for Steve Forbes but he just didn’t have the clout to be elected.

While I support Mitt Romney, I have really been impressed by Mike Huckabee. He seems to be a very good man with great morals, convictions, experience and talent. He would make a wonderful President. He just has to get past my guy. ;-)

DemoDummies like Alter are salivating at the thought of Huckabee as candidate. Huckabee has some very Clintonian ethical problems in his days at the state house in Little Rock. Hillary’s attack dogs would eat him for breakfast.

1. Jonathan Alter is a credible GOP advisor because _____?

2. I discussed my impressions of Huckabee at my blog and, though I’d actualy wanted to like him, I found him incredibly lame and unprepared. I just don’t get all the positive press.

Huckabee? No.

With a average polling number that has gone from zero to 5.6 since October of LAST year Mike is not gonna beat anybody.

Sorry.

Alter is such a pro=Democrat bigot that his advice to Republicans should be rejected out of hand as a matter of principle. It's like staunch Republicans rooting for a severely wounded Hillary Clinton as the Democrat nominee.

I was at the conference in D.C. this weekend. Huckabee DID far outperform expectations in the live part of the straw poll. And that does have a possible consequence. Huckabee may wind up as the Vice Presidential nominee. But the idea that he will become the Presidential nominee is ludicrous. But then, just about everything published by Alter is ludicrous.

The liberals are seriously pushing Huckster on us, and they sure don’t have our best interests in mind.

Newsweek is for Huckabee?

That should be a sufficient endorsement to wonder why they would be pulling for open-borders and pro-illegals but-I-saw-the-light-and-converted Huckabee.

[If Kerry had made such a miraculous change as McCain, Huckabee and some of the other wannabes have regarding illegals/open borders, most conservatives would be flooding web forums with accusations of flipflopping.]

The leftists in media are starting to conclude that, with 50% of voters saying there's no way they will vote for Hillary Clinton, whoever the GOP nominates is going to be the next President. So, they're trying to pick our nominee for us.

Alter's opinion piece is not about Mike Huckabee, it is about FRed Thompson, whom they hate. He and his cohorts in the moonbat press are trying to split the conservative vote so that Rudy Giuliani can win the nomination.

Huckabee promotes 'open door' policy at LULAC convention

Thursday, Jun 30, 2005

By Wesley Brown Arkansas News Bureau

LITTLE ROCK - In a impassioned speech before hundreds of influential Hispanic civil rights leaders from across the nation, Gov. Mike Huckabee told a captive audience Wednesday that America is great because it has always opened it doors up to people seeking a better way of life.

"I would hope that no matter who we are, or where we are from, that America should always be a place that opens its arms, opens it heart, opens its spirit to people who come because they want the best for their families ...," Huckabee said as the largely Hispanic audience gave him a standing ovation.

Huckabee was the keynote speaker, along with Tyson Foods Inc. Chairman and CEO John Tyson, at a noon luncheon of the League of United Latin American Citizens, which is holding its 76th annual convention in Little Rock.

About 10,000 political, community and business leaders, along with exhibitors and speakers are in Little Rock attending the convention at the Statehouse Convention Center. The convention started Monday and runs through Saturday.

Although he never actually talked about the U.S. or Arkansas immigration policy, Huckabee made it very clear where he stood on the issue. In his opening remarks, he said the nation will need to address the concerns of the Hispanic community because of its growing influence and population base.

"Pretty soon, Southern white guys like me may be in the minority," Huckabee said jokingly as the crowd roared in laughter.

He told the LULAC delegates that their presence in the state's capital city was very important because Arkansas has one of the fastest growing Hispanic populations in the nation.

"Your gathering is so very significant for our state," Huckabee said. "We are delighted to have you (criminal invader illegal aliens)"

Giuliani invoked the name of Ronald Reagan yesterday, so we should rush to elect him.
