Alter is such a pro=Democrat bigot that his advice to Republicans should be rejected out of hand as a matter of principle. It's like staunch Republicans rooting for a severely wounded Hillary Clinton as the Democrat nominee.

I was at the conference in D.C. this weekend. Huckabee DID far outperform expectations in the live part of the straw poll. And that does have a possible consequence. Huckabee may wind up as the Vice Presidential nominee. But the idea that he will become the Presidential nominee is ludicrous. But then, just about everything published by Alter is ludicrous.

I’m wondering which candidate s helped by Huckabee as VP. Certainly not Fred Thompson from Tennessee. I mean, coincidence is coincidence, but I can’t see us running in 2008 with a former governor from Ark. and a Tennesse senator.

Maybe Romney, because of the Mormon thing — a Baptist as VP would certainly put a halt to the “Evangelicals can’t vote for a mormon” business.

Not Duncan Hunter — he’s already got what Huckabee has, and more, except he doesn’t have the support Huckabee has.

Maybe Rudy? But nobody would trust a Rudy/Huckabee administration on the issue of illegal immigrants, or on the use of government to force citizens to do what’s best for thems.
