Embattled Democrat Pete Stark has just publicly apologized to "the president and his family."
He took the floor after his fellow Democrats successfully killed a motion to censure him in the wake of his remarks last Thursday asserting that American troops were fighting in Iraq to have their "heads blown off for the president's amusement."
"I want to apologize to my colleagues, many of whom I have offended," Stark began. He then apologized to "the president and his family" and "the troops."
"I hope that with this apology, I return to being as insignificant as I should be," he concluded though a voice cracking with emotion.

rface,
Thanks a lot, after clicking on your link I now am wiping my entire body down with a sanitizer.
The language over there is quite, well, different than here.

Well, good on him, a small step toward the Democrat Party becoming American again.

"I hope that with this apology, I return to being as insignificant as I should be," he concluded though a voice cracking with emotion. I really think he misspoke. Liberals aren't very good on the precise meaning of words. What he really meant is that he wants to duck out of the line of fire, lie low, and stay unnoticed until this affair blows over. Like all politicians, he likes to be seen, maybe, but admired for doing something good, not for screwing up and saying something stupid and self-destructive.
What's really funny about it, of course, is that "insignificant" is unintentionally exactly the right word for him. He didn't mean it, but it fits just right.
I, too, checked to see if this was Scrappleface or some other satirical web site. No, he's just a stupid liberal, with a habit of bending words to fit, who panicked and used the wrong word about himself. Worse yet, it was unintentionally exactly the right word.

Just read some of it; one DUmmie said he must have gotten a call from Dick Cheney about apologizing or going duck-hunting with the VP. Now that was pretty funny. I thought they were pretty devoid of humor over there...

“Suggesting”? Hell, he didn’t suggest a thing, he came right out and said it.

I return to being as insignificant as I should be No problem there, however, your words are significant and I am sure you will hear them over and over when it comes time for your reelection. And if there are any Americans left in your Congressional District then you should get tossed out on yor ear, finally. After all 34 years is more than enough time to serve in the public sector.
