Kaczynski Concedes Defeat in Polish Election
VOA ^ | 21 October 2007 | VOA news

Polish Prime Minister Jaroslaw Kaczynski is conceding defeat as exit polls give a pro-business party a large lead over his ruling nationalists in Sunday's parliamentary elections.

Mr. Kaczynski promised his Law and Order Party will be a strong opposition during the next government.

Civic Platform is a center-right party which has pushed for lower taxes on businesses, a smaller bureaucracy and closer integration into the European economic system. Tusk has said he will seek to withdraw Polish forces from Iraq.

Sunday's election brings to an end two years of conservative rule by Prime Minister Kaczynski and his twin brother, President Lech Kaczynski.

They pushed hard for a stronger Polish voice in the European Union, alienating some EU allies. They also opposed various EU regulations, including those on the environment.

Mr. Kaczynski called Sunday's election two years early when the previous government collapsed because of a corruption scandal.

I went to grade school with a Kaczynski. He was a liar, a thief, and, well... just an overall bad seed.

(in a low ominous growl) kill Kaczynskis, kill Kaczynskis, kill Kaczynskis......:)

Interesting thing.

According to the latest results - among the Polish troops serving in Iraq the Civic Platform got 42-51% of the votes (different results in different bases), whereas Law and Justice only 15-22%

Too bad.

Jaroslaw Kaczynski is a true patriot for the Polish people as well as showing the lead to other non socialist Christian Euros.

Jaroslaw Kaczynski is a true patriot for the Polish people

As you can see he is not - Polish people have chosen someone else.

I forgot... if he mentioned Kaczynskis closed economy attitude then tell him that this won’t change as Civic Platform does not have majority in Parliament and can only have majority with those “petty tyrants” or post-communists from LiD.

Corruption and economic retardation were his main complaints about his PM.

Silvio Berlusconi may be "pro-American" too, and preferable to the clowns currently running Italy. Nevertheless, the man is still a scumbag.

Corruption??? For God’s sake, Law and Justice is probably the only party that did not discredited itself with any corruption affair.

Economic Retardation??

vox_PL (I think he got banned:/) made a huge article called “The Terrible Twins” on how they changed Poland, there was also the other one here on FR showing research that Poland is number one place of investments in the world. To sum up, GDP is around 6,3% and growing, unemployment fell from 18,4% to 12,5% and is decreasing (specialists say that it’s really about 9% as many people work but are not registered as workers), last year there were created 1,2mil new working places, Poland jumped in HDI list by 5 places, IPGR is 11,2% and growing, Poland is also one of the most informatized nations in Europe.

There are lots of bad things you can say about Kaczynski twins but definitely not the two you have mentioned.

vox_PL (I think he got banned

I wasn't banned. I asked Admin to remove all of my posts and cancel my account on purpose. Why? I'll tell later.

As you may have noticed I was a staunch conservative very proud of the Polish people and its history. The Polish people, which was so many a time sentenced to death and decimated by Germans, assaulted and killed by Russians, bled for ages as no other nation in Europe. Despite the sea of blood and tears, we never fell to the knees before the murderers, never resigned to the fate.

And now, in the free election, the majority of Poles chooses the party of the EU appeasers (Bartoszewski) and traitors (Sikorski), those, who openly stated that they would reduce the relations with the USA and "improve and strengthen" the ties with Berlin and Moscow, AS IF IT WAS POLAND THAT SPOILED THE RELATIONS!!!!!!!!

Read the comments of German Freepers! Look how happy they are, not to mention Erica Steinbach and other anti-Polish nazis. The L&J government that didn't bow before Moscow and Berlin soon will go and now Germans are happy because Parteigenosse Tusk and Bartoszewski will surely rush on their knees to Berlin to beg Merkel and Steinbach for forgiveness for "two accidental years" of Polish Independence. Then they will fulfill all Erica Steinbach's demands, doing this with big words of apology on their mouths.

All in all, how can I be proud of the Polish people anymore?

How can I be proud of the people which elected the Civic Platform, the most cowardly and anti-Polish party in 1,000 year-old history of Poland?

How can I publish proud articles showing our army's honor and unbroken fidelity to its allies after the Polish people elected the cowards who openly call for pulling out Polish troops from Iraq and Afghanistan! Just like rats, like f.cowards, like people without honor, dignity and pride!!!

That's not me. Therefore my presence on FR is pointless anymore. The forum itself is the most fantastic place on the Internet, but my representing the nation that turned out to be so stupid and cowardly is more than I can stand.

...and a few words to Germans.

If you count on regaining the Western Polish lands or, at least, the properties there just because that [...] Tusk came to power and, who as a regular liberal will surely sell you everything you want, be sure that this land, houses, rivers and lakes will burn like hell under your feet. Although some 6,5 million brainwashed Poles voted for the C.P. scum that loves kowtowing before you, be sure that more than 5 million Polish patriots who voted for the Law and Justice will rather die than allow you to grab our territory once again.

Post Script: I signed up again only to explain it all. That's all. I will have to live the nightmare of 4 years under the rules of the liberal scum, so talking to liberals also here would make that nightmare double.

If somebody is offended by my words that describe the Civic Platform as scum, then tell me what can I say about the party that gains 77% of votes in Polish prisons, among murderers, thieves, rapists etc.?

The Law and Justice got only 2% there, THAT SPEAKS FOR ITSELF!

By the way, the L&J had a landslide victory in the USA, where 70% of the voters voted for the party of the Polish patriots.

FAREWELL.

I think what should be alarming is the “brain drain” as many professional Poles are seeking greener pastures in the UK, and other parts of Europe. The one good thing that could come from the PO is strengthening the opportunities for the young Polish professionals to be able to stay in the country and earn comparable to what they could in the rest of Europe.

And as another poster noted, the fact that Kaczynski is still President, will ensure that Poland will continue to fight to retain her sovereignity against the EU. Both sides will need to learn the “art of compromise.”

Nope. I´m just a citizen of a EU member, thus enjoying the good things of a united Europe, e.g. shopping with the same currency in Paris, Rome or Amsterdam, travelling freely through the Schengen states, and I don´t need a passport (a valid ID is enough), I may settle and work in each EU member state - and even vote for the mayor and city council there (as a foreigner!). We´re no longer enemies, but working togethe for a better Europe, a Europe that knows that we can only meet the challenges of a growing Asia / the globalization. I´m far from being a blind EU sympathizer, but I can distinguish between the bad and good. I´m quite satisfied with the new EU reform treaty. It´s not a constitution, because we ain´t no super-state, and that´s a good thing. But it´s a reform of the EU, which desperately needs more influence of the EU parliament and less power for the commission.

Regards,

Michael
