Legal work arounds were developed that eliminated the need to pay the luxury tax. It resulted in offshoring most all the private boat sales.
Many of those methods are still in use today to eliminate paying the FL sales tax on luxury boats.

yes well there are a lot of theoretical ideas with conservative appeal, like the fair tax. It may very well be the greatest thing since sliced bread (hmmm...) but a conservative would want to make sure it works on even some small scale level before proposing it for the national level.
Actually, I would vote for any of them in the General Election, except for Rooty and Ron Paul.

I believe he thought the Socialist quote from me was truly going to be in the minority or thinking it was extreme because there were something like 12 of the 23 in the room that considered themselves moderate conservatives.
When he posed that question later on-air his staff about had a stroke. But if you got to listen closely later on I called her not only a socialist but a communist.
As for Ron Paul there was nothing else to say about him other than what I did. I was the only one who mentioned his name in discussion about them all.
I could see that she was pretty taken with him. I had hoped we could talk for a few minutes and delve into whether he really a conservative or not. That wasn’t to be.

Rudy - Train kept a rolllin' and Mr Personality again. Held sway. Seemed to be getting coached from off-stage?
Romney - Best showing so far IMHO, but didn't gain ground because of Rudy's personality, so canned and rehearsed doesn't need coaching off stage, still reminds me of the Republican John Kerry, cannot drop Reagans name enough
Thompson - missed opportunity, no to slight gain - set up in the beginning, lobbed a softball at the end to hit a homerun...not enough, but didn't not hurt, admitted afterwords that it's just not his forum, he's right, his interview aftrer was much better, "Read up on it Allen!"...
Huckabee - the WOT flip-flop came as expected, still can't forgive his momentary lapse of RonPaulism...did help himself despite. (Not like there aren't at least two other flip-floppers on stage) Seemed to absolutely dodge the gay marriage question with an abortion answer...good answer, wrong reply
Ron Paul - like the free market stuff, should marry the constitution and have babies, but just such a monkeys uncle on foreign policy
McCain - steady...what was up with the 67 years old comment, seemed angry?...Unapologetically MCain...drove home hard the Washington experince in Congress...Last poll Congress has 11% approval....LOL Overall helped himself a tad..great KGB comment
Duncan Hunter - no gain, trade deficit answer seemed to go over everyones head, scored well hitting Romney on healthcare plan, scored with the unity answer
Tancredo...gain, but of virtually no use...scored on ratings comment, big score of healthcare criticism, government get out!...Scored turning social security and health issues back to immigration...scored giving Rudy the hat-tip, very decent of him to do so...
Overall impression -
Rudy was just Rudy, again. Has peronal appeal that reminds me a Reagon..never seems to stumble badly ala Huckabee's WOT comments from the previous debate...still faces heavy opposition from within the party...Great answers off the cuff, refreshing after 8 years of Bush's bumbling...got the impression that he's vulnerable to the demonizing Bush has been subjected to because of the same lack of party support (Bush - border, Rudy, guns, marriage, abortion) but has survived the trial by fire, mayor in the same town as the NYTimes traitors
Romney was what I thought the most relaxed I've seen him yet....still way too reheased, too Mr Soundbite, too much name dropping...
Thompson was slow again....What did you mean when you said X Senator..."Well, I meant what I said..." Too flippant...not appealing...However, with help from Brit Hume, well, mostly Brit Hum, did seem to establish or differentiate himself from the other candidates on the social security and health reform issues...combined with good foreign policy answers...
Ron Paul...if we could just get him to shut up about the WOT (because he's so damn wrong) he's a tolerable devils advocate

You may know, but I have never heard that the concept of the "fair tax" is actually a religiously adhered to dogma of details surrounding a government dole and to be for a national (and Constitutional) sales tax is to somehow be for universal largess.

He did a good job in New York and he can beat Hillary.He relates and gets his message across to the public.He has stated numerous times he will appoint conservative judges.I also believe he will handle the democratic houses in 08,and will get the facts out to the public on issues and will react quickly to any democratic smear.I will vote for Rudy.
But Rudy can and will if nominated beat Hillary the others will not.

The most ironic thing of all is the stanch RC's will not back a pro-abortion candidate. I recall this was a huge stumbling block for Kerry.
