UPDATE: The city of Malibu is advising residents in Puerco Canyon to begin evacuating due to a wildfire driven by powerful winds. This area is north of Pacific Coast Highway and about 1 mile west of Pepperdine University. Residents along the beach on Malibu Road may soon be evacuated. Pacific Coast Highway is closed between Kanan-Dume Road and Topanga Canyon. Residents are advised to head to the west. Evacuation centers are being set up in the Zuma Beach area.
A wildfire driven by powerful winds in the Malibu Hills this morning threatened a university, destroyed at least one home and forced the evacuation of hundreds more, authorities said.

Yeah, God shows up every year about this time and gets angry.
Too bad those that haven't a clue seem to think this only affects the rich and celebrities, and it's all isolated to Hollywood and the Malibu coast.
Some of the ignorant comments here are just over the top.
You ok today?
Praying for you all.
So far the winds are calm here in Santee this morning. The smoke to the NW and south is very thick. Our air is gritty and nasty but no ash falling yet.
I pray that your homes will be spared.
Yeah, God shows up every year about this time and gets angry
Please forgive me I was referring to the bad one in 93 .... not your yearly small ones
Right
that was my point...namely...all the media morons talked about were the celebrity homes, as though they were the only people affected.
Rancho Bernardo.
Anyone watching the KNSD live coverage link above, the RB and Westwood areas are what’s horrible.
RB Baptist Church burning/burned.
Much of Duenda Road and Poblado Roads (San Diego 92127 zip codes) and Luz Place, Vallederas, Cabela Pl
Anyone in the area who knows Battle Mountain apparently that burned.
My brother went back and said my house was still standing at the moment (that was two hours ago now, about an hour after I left) but flames are everywhere along the freeway.
4S Ranch is in BIG trouble now it sounds like and moving west to Rancho Santa Fe, with fire crews sheltering in place in a fire station back there.
15 south and north were closed where I am.
Locals might laugh at this...apparently when they did the evac calls they said Qualcomm and people thought they meant the business not the stadium, so they had hundreds at the Qualcomm buildings themselves. A little humor in the midst of the hell.
- Witch Fire has crossed I-15 by Lake Hodges.
- Numerous homes being lost at Rancho Bernardo.
- Harris fire situation is deteriorating. - Firefighters seeking shelter at FD station at Rancho Santa Fe. - Only 3 fire companies left in San Diego.
I’d say it’s a pretty safe bet to say it’s worse. And that was pretty hellish as it was. This is so surreal.
Yeah, my folks are in Mission Valley, so my grandparents are down here, I’m down here, my brother will be here later.
This is unreal.
Oh no.... (((HUGS))).... where are you FReeping from?
Oh, my! Just skimming through some of the above posts has me sick. So many of our FRiends are facing danger right now! Please don’t take chances - smoke inhalation is extremely dangerous.
I implore our Heavenly Father to protect each one of you and angels to surround all who are in harm’s way.
