BATON ROUGE, Louisiana (AP) -- U.S. Rep. Bobby Jindal became the nation's youngest governor and the first nonwhite to hold post in Louisiana since Reconstruction when he carried more than half the vote to defeat 11 opponents.
Jindal, the Republican 36-year-old son of Indian immigrants, had 53 percent with 625,036 votes with about 92 percent of the vote tallied. It was more than enough to win Saturday's election outright and avoid a November 17 runoff.
"My mom and dad came to this country in pursuit of the American dream. And guess what happened. They found the American Dream to be alive and well right here in Louisiana," he said to cheers and applause at his victory party.
....
When he takes office in January, Jindal will become the nation's youngest governor in office. He pledged to fight corruption and rid the state of those "feeding at the public trough," revisiting a campaign theme.
"They can either go quietly or they can go loudly, but either way, they will go," he said, adding that he would call the Legislature into special session to address ethics reform.

and it doesn't matter anyway except for the much higher vulnerability of white skin to skin cancer. Dark skin in a low sunshine area gives an increased vulnerability to rickets. Skin color is a balancing act.

Non-white? Where do they get this #$%p? Indian is Caucasian. Caucasian, yes, but darker skinned than a Nordic Caucasian.
I guess the variation in skin tone makes the Caucasians the most inclusive race?...

He was raised Hindu and converted to Catholicism in high school. He was smeared for writing a detailed paper why he felt that Catholicism was the right choice in faith for him. I am not Catholic but do appreciate the fact that he studied the issue thoroughly before jumping right in. That is a good trait for a leader.

Oh there might be some overlap between the lightest Indians and the darkest Europeans. My insurance agent happens to be a Desi, I've known many Mediterranean Europeans who had darker skin tones. Big deal.

There are a lot of Christians in India and even in Pakistan. It’s good to know he converted.

Just as with actual people from Africa who come to the US are often denied the title African American. Yup! The rulz forbid that title to many Mediterranean Africans, and to my Darling Daughter's Beau, who is from South Africa.
OTOH, Terrraaaayyyza Heinz Kerry, was lauded by the MSM as potentially the first Afro-American First Lady...

Exciting news! Glad to see it. None of our states deserve the raping the ‘Rats have given them through the years, no matter how many stupid people continue to vote them into office.
Is there a LA Ping List? I’d be interested in keeping up with this guy to see what he does and how I can apply it to help save Wisconsin from its rabid, socialist voters. ;)

interesting that it has to be described as “nonwhite” odd way for the MSM to push their race baiting. (is it even race or should it be ethnic group?)

Obama's book is called "The Audacity of Hope". But it is hope without substance, without accomplishment, without a future. Jindal is about hope, without corruption, without racial politicals and without name-calling. Jindal is about the American Dream, where families can make a future, without being blocked and stymied by the powerful, by the corrupt, by the demagogues.
Obama's just another snake-oil saleman, selling hope thru voting for Democrats. Obama is not about hope thru hard work and creativity. Jindal is proud to be an American. Jindal says it's not about race, the only colors that count are red, white and blue. Obama takes off his flag pin and doesn't put his hand over his heart for the National Anthem.

It's probably a lot easier to see and write about the color of his skin than the content of his character.*ouch*
The sad part is that they'd miss the reference...

Well, we can settle this once and for all by examining his nose
“They may be able to identify the racial group to which the person belongs by examining the width and height of the nose. Facial or head hair, when found with the skeleton, can also help determine race. Caucasian nose holes are triangular, Negroid’s square, and Mongoloid’s diamond-shaped. Negroid femur bones are also straighter than other racial groups.”

The US census racial classifications guidance lists persons from India as “Asians.” The official US definition of “Caucasian” or “white” is, and I quote: “White. A person having origins in any of the original peoples of Europe, the Middle East, or North Africa. It includes people who indicate their race as “White” or report entries such as Irish, German, Italian, Lebanese, Near Easterner, Arab, or Polish.”
And the official government guidance on “Asian” is as follows: “Asian. A person having origins in any of the original peoples of the Far East, Southeast Asia, or the Indian subcontinent including, for example, Cambodia, China, India, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Pakistan, the Philippine Islands, Thailand, and Vietnam. It includes “Asian Indian,” “Chinese,” “Filipino,” “Korean,” “Japanese,”
“Vietnamese,” and “Other Asian.”

Aye, but the “Official” (and therefore Sacred) definitions do not correspond to the ethnographic definitions.
