What the heck is wrong with so called modern artists? 99% of what they do is crap and very little is aesthetically pleasing.

Guillermo Habacuc Vargas ought to be chained and starved. See there! It’s art!

It isn’t about art, it is about shock and schlock.
It’s about ‘feeeelings’ these days.
And, apparently, the more outrageous and morally repugnant, the more ‘artistic’ it is in the eyes of those morons in charge of ‘art’ these days.
Which makes those of us who make REAL art sick.

At first I was going to make a sarcastic comment but then I looked at the pictures.
This just makes your heart ache.

This has nothing to do with art. It is a sadistic case of animal abuse, and the sadist should be arrested. This would give an excuse to every killer: “I wasn’t killing the ho, it is art. Look how I posed her.”
To: SmoothTalker
Is this art? Who would even have to ask that! No, it’s torture and abuse to a living creature. Like someone else said—baseball bat!
To: SmoothTalker
I’m sure you’ll agree that art doesn’t have to be aesthetically pleaseing, but this is not art. It is animal abuse, cruelty, and sadism. If laws exist prohibitins such things, this so-called “artist” should be prosecuted under them.

This is Art.
This is Art.
That isn't.

Well, I have court date on the 5th as a witness against my neighbor for his performing just such “art”.
The cops who arrested him didn’t seem to think it was art.

By Nicaraguan artistic standards, this is pretty tame stuff.
After all, Danny Ortega used to do this to real people, while Bianca Jagger cheered him on.

What is also unreal is all the people that filed by, didn’t feed the dog or demand an end to it and like sheep allowed this to happen.

This makes my heart hurt and my stomach sick. I hope this man dies of an incurable wasting disease and that nobody cares.

From the comments at the link.
"If he would have starved himself ini a gallery with images of starving children, it would have been more of an artistic statement." No, it wouldn't have. It would have been political not artistic. The original display isn't art either.
I again point real art lovers to the avowed goals of the communist party as presented to the US Congress in 1963:
22) Continue discrediting American culture by degrading all form of artistic expression. 'Eliminate all good sculpture from parks and buildings, substitute shapeless, awkward, and meaningless forms.'
23) Control art critics and directors of art museums. 'Our plan is to promote ugliness, repulsive, meaningless art'.
'nuff said.

I do wonder at least once a day "what is wrong with people like this?"

I'm convinced that most of "modern art" is a joke, set along the lines of "The Emperor's New Clothes." You start with someone who claims to be a "serious artist." Next you have a critic who's actually a failed "artist" who hates artists with talent, yet his or her's confidence has been shaken as to what makes "good art." When the "serious artist" tells the critic of "his vision," the critic immediately agrees and trumpets the wonder of this "art."
Seriously, I'm convinced that the measure of "art" for most critics is, "if I don't understand it, it must be good."
