Why the liberals want the U.S. to lose the war in Iraq
Hernando Today. ^ | Oct 18, 2007 | COL. DONALD J. MYERS (Ret.)

Posted on 10/19/2007 10:08:06 AM PDT by george76

This past week convinced me that the left, especially the Democratic Congress, does not appreciate the fact that we are at war. When one is in a war, one attempts to amass as many allies as possible...

The adage, "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" holds true.

During World War I, the Ottoman Empire, Turkey, killed over a million Armenians. Today, we call that genocide. Our Congress led by the Democrats picked this particular time to announce to the world how wrong that was and passed a resolution in a committee. Now the speaker, Ms. Pelosi, is trying to have the entire House pass this resolution. As a result, Turkey has recalled its ambassador, and is massing troops on the Iraqi border to deal with Kurdish rebels who conduct raids across the border into Turkey. Much of our supplies to support our troops in the war in Iraq pass through or over Turkey.

Why would our Democratic-led Congress pick this particular time to bring up this issue? There is only one reason -- to make it more difficult for the U.S. to win this war in Iraq.

Sen. Harry Reid has declared that the war is lost.

Rep. John Murtha has accused Marines of murder before any investigation, and investigations have proved that he was wrong.

The current resolution is merely another ploy to make it more difficult to win this war, especially since the surge is doing so well.

Since the left has done so much to make it more difficult to win this war, then they will be unable to revel in any type of victory.

Therefore, they must do whatever is necessary to ensure that victory does not occur.

I started to add the Israel issue, but it had very little to do with the first Gulf War, which was the reason for our bases on Saudi land to begin with.

Saudi Arabia looked a lot more culpable than Iraq.

True, and I was referring to us defending Israel if all others rose against her. I hope we do.

That really didn't start up until we went into Iraq.

Substitute Saudi Arabia for Iraq and go against all I listed! Add to this what I mentioned before about "allies" and a billion Moslems rioting around the world.

You have to admit, though, if it weren't for oil, we'd have little or no interest in the Middle East at all.

Correct. However, recent history showed that "stealing oil", as we've often been accused, isn't true. One look at the $90/Barrel of oil will dispel this notion. Nevertheless, who said that the accusations are true? It's the enormity of accusation NOT the facts that count.

If we "stole" the Iraqi oil, a gallon of gas today would have been way down, right? .

“The reason is simple, to obtain and maintain POWER.”

“They don’t care at all about growing American soldier deaths if it serves their career purposes.”

Absolutely. They also don’t care about the children, the environment, etc. etc. It is all about power and screw anyone who gets in their way. They want their socialist utopia where they can dictate over all of us. Unfortunately, half of the population goes along with this -some are aware but most just too ignorant and ill informed.

“Treason: lending aid and comfort to your enemy:”

I have no more respect for the democrats you mention than you do, except in this regard:

Political opposition is not, nor is it even close to treason, to assign such a label to political opponents is demagoguery in it’s purest form.

Maybe you don’t mean it, but you seem to be saying “Agree with me or it will be ‘open season’ on you”

If that is your opinion, you are much closer to sedition than they are to treason.

So, Josie, are you gonna pull them pistols, or are you just whistlin’ dixie?

The interesting thing is that we all grew up Episcopalian and one of my brother in laws is Jewish, the other Catholic. I guess I should hook up with a Muslim?

My opinion was and is, American oil companies built the country and put the Sauds in power,

True. WE discovered oil in their kindgom on an expidition, and thanks to that discovery Saudi Arabia became a major oil producer and raked in the cash. Aramco--the first Arabian-American Oil Company, est. 1938--is what launched Saudi Arabia into the oil power it is today.

Instead of funding terrorism and crashing planes into the WTC, they should be thanking us.

“Deus vult!” (God’s will)

your previous post: “Just tell me when open season on traitors begins. Does anybody know the date? I want to go scout out a good place to set up a Commie lick”

With words like these, you’ve got your own little Jihad going..... Jihad Josie

You’ve got more in common with the terrorist enemy than you ought to feel comfortable having.

“With no Iran, Saudi Arabia will be exposed as the sole financier of terrorism. I don’t think the Saudis like to be held responsible for wiping out an American city. They will have no wiggle room or deniability.”

ugh. attack Iran and leave Saudi’s unaccountable? It’s a horrible strategy, but is probably GWB’s strategy.

1. It's about capturing, holding, and utilizing power to turn the United States of America into a Socialist gulag.

2. Democrats, Liberals, Progressives, Socialist, Communist are all cowards and traitors. The military is an ALL VOLUNTEER military. They do not volunteer to serve their country so what exactly is to them if patriots are willing to to go to war and fight international islamofascists?? 3. It's not about the cost of the war; it's not about the loss of life - hell, these morons kill children in the womb!; it's about POWER over this country and their desire to degrade, devolve, and denigrate capitalism. These people are Stalinists. They need to be defeated.

We debated the war before we went, we will have all the time in the world to debate it when it is over. During war, resolve is more important then the battle. See Vietnam. It took Minh two years to rebuild his Army (with the help of Russia and China) after we pulled out. After the two year build up, he was able to take South Vietnam. Our Troops didn't lose that war. The people at home lost their resolve and that is why we lost. I don't care what you call it. Where the men of WWI seditious when they past a sedition act? During war, you can ask questions, but you can not call it lost or over without declaring a victor. You can not make our allies so made, they wont to throw our Troops out of their Country. You can not continue to harass the Marine Corp while they are trying to do a job. We will bring people to justice and we will have time to debate it when it is over.

It is good that warriors such as we meet on the road of life.

OK then, what's your strategy, FRiend? Anything better than GWB strategy? A DUmbo retreat Strategy?

What I meant, since you need everything spelled out, is that when the Saudis find themselves standing like a sore thumb, they will HAVE TO put a stop to it. If not, they may very well face the music.
