LOL!
I feel for the Armenians, but we are at war and we have Troops in the field and Allies who are committed to the cause. This is basically the first time I heard of this issue with the Armenians. I am sorry for them. But when this war is over, we can deal with things like this (especially this because it happened nearly a hundred years ago. As far now, we should not be going around driving a wedge between us and our allies.
BTW, Turkey didn't help us on the ground, but they have allowed a vital Air Base to exist.
Even if the cause is good, bad, or indifferent, it don't matter. What Peloser did was cross a line and she should be impeached. Can we impeach Congress?
I agree with bdo the dhue in #59.
In addition, the Saudis are supposed to be “allies”. We had troops there to protect the Royal Family just before invading Iraq. We removed our troops not to give bin Laden a leg to stand on against the Royal Family by calling it “the infidel occupation of Ardh al Haramane (the land of the two shrines).
Saudi terrorist financing is done by some elements in the Royal Family and Wahhabis billionaires NOT by the Saudi Government as a policy. The Saudi Government is afraid to do anything about it and risk losing power. We don’t want them, as bad as they may be, to lose power and have another mullah government spreading Islamic crap to Jordan, Kuwait, Egypt and eventually, Iraq.
It’s pick-your-poison kind of dilemma.
President Reagan and previous Congresses already have dealt with the Armenain genocide: In 1981, Ronald Reagan recognized the Armenian genocide in a speech about the Holocaust. In 1984 Congress passed a resolution setting April 24 as a day of remembrance of the Armenian genocide. In 1996 and 2004 resolutions were passed that limited the usage of U.S. aid to Turkey that was being used to fund the Turkish lobby in the United States.
The genocide should not be ignored, but since it has already been addressed, that’s rather indicative that Pelosi is doing this just to get the Turks mad—why the Turks? Well, because 70% of supplies get to our troops in Iraq via Turkey. It’s her latest strategy on how to lose the war.
Except there's no such thing as international "law".
Actually, the Republican Congress brought it up and Clinton asked Hastert not to bring it to the floor because of the predictable effect on our relation with Turkey.
This was in the news in the last few days. But of course, when Clinton ask for something, unlike Bush asking for same, its fine by the MSM.
Yeah, with friends like these...?
The Saudi Government is afraid to do anything about it and risk losing power.
My opinion was and is, American oil companies built the country and put the Sauds in power, why not take it back? We wouldn't have to let the Wahhabis take power. We could even give women the right to drive and the other rights we ostensibly gave women in Afghanistan.
That would have been perfect if we were united, like just after 9/11. However, with the Fifth-Column DUmbos and their MSM allies, egging the world against us, impeaching the President and accusing us of "blood for oil", this would be an impossible task.
One more thing, the propaganda of occupying the Moslem sacred lands will have a billion Moslems against us and most likely, will join the I-told-you-so bin Ladenites
I concur
In another earlier era they would be hung for treason.
I concur
Thanks for that info.
That would have been the perfect time to do it...Saudi Arabia looked a lot more culpable than Iraq.
However, with the Fifth-Column DUmbos and their MSM allies, egging the world against us, impeaching the President and accusing us of "blood for oil", this would be an impossible task.
That really didn't start up until we went into Iraq.
You have to admit, though, if it weren't for oil, we'd have little or no interest in the Middle East at all.
GREAT POST!!
LOLOLOL!
I can’t answer you in kind because I’m electronically challenged!
One day I’ll ask you and other FReepers to coach me.
I respect your opinion, but I beg to differ. I think we recognize Israel’s right to exists and many in the ME do not. I would hope we would stand for Israel’s right to exist. I don’t know how far we would go and that is why I respect your opinion.
