Context: last Friday, same day as when Gore and the IPCC received the Peace Nobel, the WashPost put out a "Fact Checker" article about the UK decision regarding the showing of AIT in schools. They got a lot of responses, in the blog and in the blogosphere.
Because of this, the Fact Checker published a follow-up, and a response from "Team Gore". The links are below; I can't post them due to source restrictions, and to read them in entirety you probably have to register.
I'm posting these for information only. There has been a lot of discussion about this, obviously. While I will certainly comment on other aspects of the topic, I won't participate in extended discussion on this thread, because it would likely take way too much time. So if you are so inclined, consider these as part of a careful consideration process over the entire issue of global warming and climate change.
In the first comment, I am posting the introduction from "Team Gore Responds".
Finally, regarding the fourth point: I invite interested parties to read point #5 in my profile. It's considerably more in-depth than anything RealClimate has produced on this topic thus far.
An Inconvenient Truth: Part II
An Inconvenient Truth: Team Gore Responds
cogitator repeatedly states that he is not an advocate for the schemes laid out by the most zealous of the adherents he mentions, he also admits he has no solutions apart from those already made since 1970 when energy conservation and pollution reduction were married in a rather odd union of carrot and stick which gave birth to a dysfunctional offspring of confused flagellates, scared to eat the candy lest they be bruised again.
If anyone is interested, Al Gore’s first true foray into world salvation came in 1992 with the publication of his call to arms, Earth in the Balance where he says:
“On Environment: Global Marshall Plan: Five strategic goals
In my view, five strategic goals must direct and inform our efforts to save the global environment:
1. stabilizing of world population
2. the rapid development of environmentally appropriate technologies
3. a comprehensive change in the economic rules of the road by which we measure the impact of our decisions on the environment
4.negotiation & approval of a new generation of international agreements
5. a cooperative plan for educating the worlds citizens about our global environment.”
Source: Earth in the Balance, page 305-307
An Inconvenient Truth and his subsequent series of seminars and recruitment of acolytes underway right now is the fulfillment of #5 on his list of five things that must be done that he laid out 15 years ago; no one has a clue how to go about bringing the other four to fruition.
I'm calling BS on this!! He hasn't been interested in this subject for more than 15 years; since just before he got shut down for President! Before that, I'm sure you'd be hard pressed to find ANYTHING from Algore about Global Warming. He may have talked about the environment, because he would have been sucking up to the Greenies.
Great observation.
no one has a clue how to go about bringing the other four to fruition.
What do you think the "Earth Charter" is all about?
It's sad that he posts and disappears (drive-by style if you will) rather than replying.
I call that the "Groundhog Maneuver"...post...see your shadow...go back down the hole and we'll have 60 more days of global warming.
Remember Gore apparently doesn’t even know how to fix broken-overflowing toilets (deadbeat landlord is one of his many “professions” in addition to tobbaco farmer and zinc mine owner).
Before global warming, Gore hung around with the global cooling moonbats. Gore has been involved at some level with the “age of aquarius” new world order crowd since the late 60’s.
The fairytale notion that we can talk our way out of the messes we shouted our way into.
Perhaps it was inspired in some small way by Gore’s first book (formed two years later), but it has not acheived any of its stated goals among the industrialized, growing societies because it would require too great a sacrifice; they set the altar too high.
O come on. You can't possibly believe that crap. The only thing Gore has studied for 30 years is poll results and the art of sweet heart deals with shady characters, just like his segregationist daddy did.
Also, I have read repeatedly that the southern hemisphere (southern Africa and South America) has experienced record cold temps this winter and that the ice cap on Antarctica is thicker than ever.
Has that info been taken into account by any of the noted scientists?
Seems our government keeps signing onto more and more the Earth summit’s earth Charter resolutions. The World Heritage Committee is just one example. Loss of property rights under that umbrella is already happening in the USA.
Just wait until the next earth summit.
We aren’t immune to the world court either.
One can argue anything when one ignores logic. The primary trouble with global warming is that it is an absurd concept on its face and the trouble is that well meaning people actually argue the ‘facts’ about it. It is similar to arguments about how many angels can dance on the head of a pin.
There has always been climate change. That is nothing new. Simply put even those who rail against manmade warming do so with the operative assumption that it is going to continue. There is absolutely zero evidence that it will. Belief to the contrary implies that one can predict the future. Please tell us all the next six digits in a major lottery if you can do that.
My suggestion is to stop putting your faith in mindless websites and use your reasoning skills instead. If you believe websites I can show you a whole slew that shows exactly where Atlantis is located. They are as valid as the ones that demonstrate manmade global warming as reality.
At 18...Al’s worst subject was science, period. His physic’s SAT test...496. His chemistry SAT test...around 505. When he finally got pulled out of Nam with 144 days (not 365 as normal folks did)...he got sent to Divinity school in Nashville...to do two semesters. Out of eight classes...he failed five of them. The amusing part...one of the classes circled around the reading of a science-related book, and he merely had to write a book report on his view of the material of the book...whether he agreed or not. He failed to write the book report. Even if he had trashed the book...or just wrote a bunch of nothing...he would have gotten a “D” for effort. If he had wrote some quotes and did four hours of research...he probably would have gotten a minimum of a “C”. But he did nothing.
There is absolutely nothing related to science that this guy showed any talent at...until the vice-presidency. If you notice...there are no debates where he talks and discusses science with other people...even phony environmentalists. Al can’t even stand in the shadow of a first year University of Southern Alabama football player who has taken two basic “welcome to science” classes and barely passed.
So this is why the act of the Nobel makes him look bigger than a fool.
Did you see 20/20 tonight? John Stossel did a terrific job (in only a ten minute segment) exposing the “global warming” hoax for the alarmist claptrap that it is. He even interviewed scientists who quit the IPCC because they were so disgusted. In fact, one of them had to sue to get his name taken off an IPCC report.
Shoot. No, I missed that 20/20 episode. Darn it too, because John was on Fox and Friends Friday morning, and I wanted to catch his segment.
John Stossel is the token conservative in ABC news.
Hello!
When you have time, would you please read this and get back to me with your thoughts?

Thanks,

He also holds down a night job as nutritional consultant to McDonald's...
Yes, I’m surprised ABC let him report that.
