Congresswoman Diane Watson (D-CA) responded to questions regarding impeachment at a Town Hall on Iraq hosted by California Assembly Majority Leader Karen Bass and the Peoples Council Sunday, October 14th in Los Angeles, California. She spoke to an audience of approximately 150 comprised mainly of anti-war activists from local organizations.
The audience responded angrily when Watson responded to a call for the impeachment of President Bush by saying, "We simply don't have the votes." After the audience reacted with groans and boos and at least one cry of "At least do something!" Watson went on to say, "Right now, Speaker (Nancy) Pelosi is working very quietly and very effectively, behind the scenes. We need 285 votes to uphold an impeachment, and so far we have 260 members telling us they support impeachment."
Congresswoman Watson stated, "Speaker Pelosi is working on a secret plan. Our goal has to be the White House in 2008 and 60 seats. Then we can think about an impeachment," apparently referring to winning a veto-proof majority in the Senate and seeming to raise the possibility that a Democratic administration might undertake a prosecution of George Bush after he left office.
When contacted by Los Angeles Conservative activist Deborah Leigh, Pelosi's office repeated the Speaker's 2006 election position that "impeachment is off the table." They declined to comment on Congresswoman Watson's statement and numbers.
If Congresswoman Watson was telling the truth to the assembled activists, this raises questions. Has House Speaker Nancy Pelosi lost control over her own delegation, and even her awareness of what is going on in her own party. Has Ms. Pelosi not been dealing forthrightly with the American people and the Bush Administration. Was Congresswoman Watson willing to lie to a gathering of the Democratic Party's most active supporters.
If they get 60 more seats, they may be able to impeach President Bush in 2009.
I’m sure that’s their plan.
I hope these people rot in hell!
“If Congresswoman Watson was telling the truth to the assembled activists,”
There’s the answer. Just tell ‘em what they want to hear.
There's logic for ya. Waste taxpayer money to remove a President who is no longer in office.
We need to get 15 more votes to give Cheney the Presidency? Who’s up for this here? Can we get an Iran strike shortly after the swearing in ceremonies?
That’s funny. How do you impeach a private citizen?
25.......math/beer and all.
The Leftists BDS has reached the level of functional insanity.I think for the good of the country we need forced commitment of these insane stooges. They are clearly a menace to themselves as well a society at large..
Iraq has lost of desert. I am sure we can build Gitmo 2 there for them. :-)
Bush will not be president long enough in 2009 to be impeached.
Gee, who are you going to impeach? Her Thighness?
BTTT !
“260 members telling us they support impeachment.”
They hold 233 seats, assuming the blue dog dem’s would vote for this so they get 100%, who are the 27 republicans supporting this?
She need to have this lie in public and list them. At one point in time we had shame and if the government can put up website to shame those not paying taxes, she needs to be in public for lying and shamed.
HAhahahahaha...Impeach away.
Why are these dems even in Congress; if their agenda isn’t for America?
I see they are still hurting over the sting of electing two of the worst Presidents in history, Jimma give our country to the terrorists Carter and Booba rapist Clinton.
How’s this for a W comeback....
One of the librats at the press conference asked him about Putin staying in power by being elected prime minister after his term as president is up....sais W “ That’s something I need to consider myself”
Well, there are the War Crimes Trials that will follow where we take these Democrat pukes and put them on trial ~ maybe for 15 minutes ~ and then send them away for punishment.
It was a mistake to not have a war crimes trial for Robert McNamara and his little friends ~ else we'd already have had them for these people BEFORE we ever needed to invade Iraq. They simply would not be public persons at this time.
People like Kennedy should be made to answer for the long string of genocides he's advocated and voted for (just as one example). There are others sitting in Congress who are even worse.
Well, not entirely - I'm starting to see "Impeach Pelosi!" signs pop up around San Francisco. Posted by the moonbat Left, of course - in their unhappiness that she hasn't tried hard enough to force us out of Iraq - but still, the sentiment is valid. ;)
LOL! Well, I got your point, anyway.
But Nance and her little dancing weasels have me convinced. I'm not voting for Bush in the next election and that's final!
